🚀 Whatnot Whatnot is the largest livestream shopping platform in North America and Europe to buy, sell, and discover the things you love. We’re building the future of ecommerce, bringing together community, shopping and entertainment. We are committed to our values, and as a remote co-located team, we operate out of hubs within the US, UK, Ireland, Poland, and Germany today. We’re innovating in the fast-paced world of live auctions from fashion, beauty, electronics to collectibles like trading cards, comic books, and even live plants. Whatnot has something for everyone. And, we’re growing. Whatnot has been one of the fastest growing marketplaces and we’re hiring forward-thinking problem solvers across all functional areas. 💻 Role We are looking for a talented UI Designer to join our Growth Marketing team, working on impactful, conversion-focused designs that drive user engagement. This role will collaborate closely with our newly founded product and engineering teams in China. The ideal candidate is an exceptional communicator with experience navigating time zone differences, a deep understanding of design principles, and a passion for creating compelling visual experiences across global markets. Your responsibilities will include:

Collaborate with Product and Eng teams to understand project goals and design requirements, delivering innovative UI solutions that align with our brand and marketing objectives. Lead the UI design for growth initiatives, focusing on user acquisition, engagement, and retention, and ensuring consistency in visuals across all channels. Work closely with cross-functional teams in China and the United States to gather feedback, iterate on designs, and implement solutions that meet both regional and global standards. Manage workflows effectively across time zones, maintaining clear communication and a proactive approach to managing feedback loops and design iterations. Serve as a cultural bridge, ensuring that design elements and visuals are appropriate for diverse audiences and aligned with brand identity.

👋 You Curious about who thrives at Whatnot? We’ve found that low ego, a growth mindset, and leaning into action and high impact goes a long way here. As our next UI Designer you should have 5+ years of experience in UI design, with a strong portfolio, plus:

Fluent in English and Mandarin, with excellent communication skills and experience working with teams across different regions, especially the United States. Comfortable working across time zones and managing asynchronous workflows effectively. Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma & Adobe Creative Suite) and experience working with prototyping and design systems.

You should be strong in the following axes:

Visual Design: Defining and evolving visual design standards for large projects or multiple product lines. Focusing on scalability, accessibility, and adaptability of designs across platforms (e.g., mobile, web). Prototyping: Advanced proficiency in creating interactive, complex prototypes that allow stakeholders to experience near-final designs. Interaction Design: Designing seamless, end-to-end user experiences considering various user flows, edge cases, and multiple touchpoints. Animation: Designing meaningful and delightful animations that reinforce brand identity and enhance usability.

We value diversity, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, parental status, disability status, or any other status protected by local law. We believe that our work is better and our company culture is improved when we encourage, support, and respect the different skills and experiences represented within our workforce.
