Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for a Partner - Liquid & Markets with deep expertise in trading, DeFi and crypto markets to join Hack VC. In this role, you would:
- Manage the firm's token positions across liquid and illiquid crypto assets, utilizing both traditional and on-chain financial instruments.
- Structure complex deals involving tokens, warrants, SAFTs, and other crypto-native instruments.
- Lead investment strategy and execution in DeFi protocols, stablecoins, fintech rails, and crypto market infrastructure.
- Source, diligence, and drive investment decisions in trading infrastructure, market-making protocols, DEXs, derivatives platforms, and related market structure innovations.
- Prepare investment memos and lead presentations at investment committee meetings, advocating for high-conviction opportunities.
- Provide strategic guidance to portfolio companies on tokenomics, market design, liquidity strategies, and go-to-market execution.
- Leverage your network to win competitive deals and create value for portfolio companies through introductions to market makers, exchanges, and liquidity providers.
- Contribute to the firm's thought leadership through research publications, conference presentations, and social media presence.
Requirements
Required Experience
- 4+ years of professional experience in traditional markets, crypto trading, DeFi, or related financial markets.
- Demonstrated track record of successful investments or trading strategies with quantifiable returns in cutting-edge strategies.
- Hands-on experience with crypto risk management, including using options, perps, and other derivatives.
- Expertise in exotic financial instruments and structured products.
- Strong network within crypto trading communities.
- Curious or active participant in crypto markets with demonstrable on-chain activity.
Preferred Experience
- Experience as a trader, portfolio manager, or investment professional at a crypto fund, prop trading firm, or TradFi institution transitioning to crypto.
- Deep understanding of and experience using DeFi primitives (AMMs, lending protocols, derivatives, yield strategies, etc.) and ability to analyze protocol mechanics and economic security.
- Background in quantitative finance, market microstructure, or algorithmic trading.
- Technical understanding of smart contract code and ability to review protocol implementations.
- Track record of angel investments or advisory work with DeFi protocols.
- Strong public presence and thought leadership in DeFi/trading communities.

Expected salary range: $200,000 to $300,000 plus potential for carried interest
