The engineering team at Valora Inc is focused on making blockchain and cryptocurrency systems accessible to anyone with a mobile device. Our flagship product, named Valora, is a mobile financial application built on top of the Celo blockchain network. Achieving our goal requires implementing solutions across the blockchain technical stack. We’re looking to hire a full-stack engineer that is excited to impact our users by contributing across the stack.
The engineering team works across mobile, cloud, and blockchain platforms. Valora is written using React Native and we code heavily in TypeScript. We implement smart contracts supporting Valora in Solidity and leverage cloud providers (e.g., Google Cloud) to deploy and host backend API implementations. Much of our work is open source, including Valora (https://github.com/valora-inc/wallet). Although we are invested in specific technologies, we care more about a growth mindset and excitement around learning than experience with specific tools.
You will
- Design and implement features end-to-end across our technology stack.
- Participate in data-informed discussions to prioritize what problems we solve next and how we solve them.
- Work with Product and Marketing partners to launch end-user features you help build.
- Grow your engineering skills and help others on the team do the same by participating in design reviews and code reviews, and learning about technical developments in the mobile and blockchain spaces.
You have
- 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Excitement around learning and developing new skills.
- An ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team.
- Bonus: experience with controlled experimentation (e.g., AB split tests)
- Bonus: experience working with blockchain technologies like Solidity and implementing mobile applications in React Native.
What does a full stack developer in web3 do?
A full stack web3 developer is a developer who has expertise in the full stack of technologies that are used to build web3 applications
These applications use the decentralized, distributed nature of the web3 network to provide users with a secure and decentralized way of accessing and interacting with online services and applications. The responsibilities of a full stack web3 developer will vary depending on the specific project and the needs of the team they are working with
In general, though, a full stack web3 developer will be responsible for: designing and building the front-end and back-end of web3 applications, as well as implementing and maintaining the underlying blockchain infrastructure
This will often involve working with a variety of different technologies and programming languages, such as Solidity for smart contract development, JavaScript and HTML for front-end development, and various blockchain protocols and frameworks. Additionally, a full stack web3 developer may also be responsible for working with the web3 community to help drive adoption and integration of web3 technologies, as well as staying up-to-date on the latest developments in the field and contributing to the broader web3 ecosystem.
