About Aztec At Aztec, our goal is to add privacy to Ethereum. In the current public blockchain paradigm, users and entities unknowingly broadcast data in the public, compromising privacy and security to get trustlessness. Not only are unencrypted blockchains inherently privacy-exposing, they require significant redundancy to compute and verify the legitimacy of transactions. Implementing scalable encryption in a public blockchain paradigm requires cutting-edge math and engineering. Thankfully, our team of scientists and engineers invented Plonk, the industry-standard zkSNARK, and Noir, the universal language of zero knowledge. Now, we’re building a first of its kind Layer 2 with private smart contracts. This requires new cryptographic primitives, a zero-knowledge DSL for writing contracts, a privacy-friendly execution environment, a carefully designed set of circuits that prove the validity of the chain to L1, a decentralized block-building and proving mechanism, and a top-tier user and developer experience. And it’s now time to bring it to market. We’ve raised $125 million from industry-leading investors including a16z crypto, Paradigm, Variant, Consensys, and a_capital, and we’re growing quickly.Role focus: We're looking for an experienced full stack engineer with a passion for the devops side of the engineering process. You'll want to dig into all areas of our codebase, to develop an understanding of how each part builds, fits together, and deploys. Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities (shared amongst other similarly skilled engineers): Our internal developer experience. Where you see pain, you alleviate it. Our build times. Evolving code across the stack to improve compile and test times. Our CI system. The product behind the product. You'll help maintain it, and keep engineers engineering. Our deployments. You'll make sure that what we build can easily and reliably be deployed, and that it stays running. Our metrics. You'll help ensure we're getting useful data and benchmarks from our code, and use appropriate tools to visualise. To be effective in the role: You'll need a deep understanding of the tools that we use and how best to use them. You'll have the ability to identify areas of improvement, whilst prioritising simplicity and ease of maintenance for all engineers. You'll have an attention to detail, noticing inefficiencies and inconsistencies and digging in to resolve them. You'll pro-actively speak to team leads, identifying areas of weakness within their devops flow, and working with them to improve. You can take direction when needed, but likewise can self start when given the freedom. The current responsibilities are currently handled ad-hoc as needed by engineers. While there will continue to be support, we need someone with bandwidth to continuously focus on and improve these areas.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related technical field 3+ years solid engineering experience in web3 / blockchain Strong knowledge of Merkle Trees and how they work C++ and cmake. Rust. TypeScript and yarn. WASM and web development. Docker. Deep experience with linux and linux tooling. Cloud compute (aws/gcp) and orchestration like k8s. You'll up-skill in more niche parts of our stack such as Noir, our in-house developed zk-circuit compiler.
Nice-to-have experience:
Located in the UK or can operate in Greenwich Mean Time Zone Familiarity with current Ethereum tooling (for inspiration) Passion for the web3 space Familiarity with other private blockchain technologies like ZCash Knowledge of peer-to-peer decentralized networking tools A love for Merkle Trees
What we offer:
A highly competitive compensation package (including equity) Flexible and remote work environment 25 days holiday + bank holidays annually An opportunity to work at the cutting edge of blockchain with a world class cryptography and engineering team Aztec Labs is an equal opportunity employer and we value creativity, diversity, and intellectual curiosity. If you're passionate about leveraging your creative talents to make a real-world impact, and if you want to be part of a team that's shaping the future of digital privacy, then we would love to hear from you.
What does a full stack developer in web3 do?
A full stack web3 developer is a developer who has expertise in the full stack of technologies that are used to build web3 applications
These applications use the decentralized, distributed nature of the web3 network to provide users with a secure and decentralized way of accessing and interacting with online services and applications. The responsibilities of a full stack web3 developer will vary depending on the specific project and the needs of the team they are working with
In general, though, a full stack web3 developer will be responsible for: designing and building the front-end and back-end of web3 applications, as well as implementing and maintaining the underlying blockchain infrastructure
This will often involve working with a variety of different technologies and programming languages, such as Solidity for smart contract development, JavaScript and HTML for front-end development, and various blockchain protocols and frameworks. Additionally, a full stack web3 developer may also be responsible for working with the web3 community to help drive adoption and integration of web3 technologies, as well as staying up-to-date on the latest developments in the field and contributing to the broader web3 ecosystem.
