Team & Role:
Blockdaemon is looking for a Senior Product Designer based in EMEA to join our Product Design team. In this role, you will lead key product initiatives across the entire design cycle (from discovery to build) in collaboration with a Product Manager and a team of engineers to ensure our product is not only aesthetically appealing but also user-centric. The ideal candidate has an eye for detail and a body of work with data-rich experiences that demonstrate clear user and business impact through thoughtful interactions, E2E experiences and visual polish.
Designers at Blockdaemon enable small and large institutions to leverage secure and seamless infrastructure services to build and transact on blockchains across 3 core products: wallet, staking and our APIs . We are a small but ambitious team, ready to roll up our sleeves to design frictionless experiences that empower a wide range of users.
Blockdaemon is a remote-first company with team members located across the globe.
This role will report directly to the Product Design Director.
What you will be responsible for:
- Understand the end-to-end experience to define solutions that have a high impact on the user experience —from ideation through concept design to high-fidelity polished mockups.
- Partner with product management, engineering, and other key parts of the business to better understand how to solve various use cases.
- Collaborate with other designers to provide and get feedback to ship polished product experiences.
- Explore different approaches and solutions for new and existing features and align with the team.
- Contribute to and help maintain our new Design System.
- Keep a pulse on competitors' products to inform our design decisions and help raise the bar from an interaction design perspective.
- Partner with developers to review and refine details as development takes place
- Communicate efficiently and effectively cross-functionally, between product, engineering, and marketing.
What you bring to the table:
- 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design crafting and shipping digital products for web and/or mobile apps.
- Ability to quickly explore multiple solutions to solve for complex UX flows with the right level of fidelity.
- Strong visual design & interaction skills - you care about typography & interactions as much as you do about flows.
- Know how to leverage and contribute to a nascent design system.
- Fluent in designing and prototyping in figma.
- Self-starter and able to manage design projects with minimal support.
- Take an active role in design reviews
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, iterative product development process.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
Nice-to-have skills:
- Crypto, blockchain, or fintech experience
- B2B experience SaaS startup
- Some experience conducting user research and translating the findings into design decisions.
What does a product designer do?
A product designer is responsible for creating and designing the physical and visual aspects of a product, with the aim of enhancing its functionality, usability, and aesthetics
This involves a broad range of tasks, such as researching and analyzing customer needs, designing user interfaces, creating sketches and prototypes, testing and refining designs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the final product meets the intended user needs and business goals
A product designer must have a deep understanding of design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and technological advancements in order to create products that are both innovative and functional
They must also have excellent communication skills, as they work closely with engineers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that the product is developed on time, within budget, and meets the desired quality standards
Product designers work in a variety of industries, such as consumer electronics, furniture, automotive, fashion, and healthcare, to name a few
They may work for large corporations, small businesses, or as freelance designers, and often collaborate with other designers, engineers, and manufacturers to bring their designs to life
In web3, a product designer is responsible for designing and creating decentralized applications (dApps) and other products that leverage blockchain technology, smart contracts, and decentralized networks
This involves understanding the unique technical and functional requirements of web3 products, as well as the principles of decentralization, transparency, and user ownership
Web3 product designers need to be familiar with blockchain technology, smart contract programming languages, and decentralized networks, in order to design products that can operate effectively in a decentralized environment
They need to be able to work with developers and other stakeholders to ensure that the product is designed in a way that maximizes user control and ownership, while minimizing the potential for fraud or malicious activity
Web3 product designers may work on a range of products, such as decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, non-fungible token (NFT) marketplaces, decentralized social networks, and more
They may also work closely with blockchain developers, economists, and other specialists to create products that are both innovative and practical, while maintaining a strong focus on user experience.
