The Role and a bit about us

The role presents an opportunity to become an integral part of our product development team with plenty of room to be creative and novel products at the crossroads between Distributed Ledger Technology and IoT.

We are seeking a product designer that shares their passion for user experience and problem-solving. You play well with others, but you aren't afraid to stand up for what you think is right. You're diplomatic and flexible while seeing the big picture, but you also find satisfaction in making every detail right. We look for someone to partner with Product Management and Engineering to deliver a great customer experience. Success comes from understanding the customer and business needs, aligning with your partners, simplifying complex processes, producing codable design assets, and ultimately delivering a simple and friendly experience.

We are a team of hungry entrepreneurs and engineers driven by the opportunity to positively shape our collective future. We have the technology, the team and the timing to decentralize businesses, markets and even economies, creating more open, sustainable and inclusive ways of living and working.

If you identify with the above, you’re not just looking for a 9-5, and are ready to take complete ownership of this position - we look forward to hearing from you.

Tasks

Things you will do

  • Working hand in hand with product management and engineering in all phases of the product development process (from discovery to delivery).
  • Continuously developing prototypes and test new designs and product ideas.
  • Set design requirements based on information from internal teams and user research.
  • Identifying new product improvement opportunities.
  • Analyzing how a new product satisfies market needs and consumer preferences.
  • Staying up to date on current industry trends and market conditions.
  • Modifying and revising existing designs to meet changing user preferences.
  • Presenting product design ideas to the product management and engineering.

Requirements

What you bring to the table

  • Proven experience in all phases of the design process including user research, copywriting, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing.
  • Passion for peaq’s Vision and basic understanding of Web3.
  • An intuitive eye for user needs beyond the obvious.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members.
  • Ability to collect and interpret both qualitative and quantitative feedback.
  • A well-rounded portfolio of client work, demonstrating a strong understanding of user objectives.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and persuade around design concepts.
  • Passion for design; not satisfied with the status quo and always thinking of ways to improve.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Dynamic, creative personality, effective at engaging and influencing a variety of audiences.
  • Provide assistance to product engineers when needed.
  • Recommend new tools and technologies by staying abreast of the latest trends and techniques.

Benefits

What you can expect

  • The opportunity to contribute to innovative projects in a new and exciting industry that has the potential to positively shape our world.
  • High growth potential.
  • Warm and open corporate culture at an international company with many different nationalities.
  • An environment that values freedom, autonomy, team spirit and open communication.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Decentralized (remote) working possibilities.

What guides us

  • We believe that great teams consist of Missionaries rather than Mercenaries.
  • We believe that great teams can only deliver great results consistently if they work under conditions that give them creative freedom and a manageable workload, creating full focus on what's important.
  • We want to work with humans, not with robots.
  • This is why we build a team that finds its strength in diversity & authenticity.
  • This is why we want to give you the freedom you need to be great at what you do.
  • This is why we aim to create a space where people can do what they love and live up to their talents.

We look forward to working with you.

What does a product designer do?

A product designer is responsible for creating and designing the physical and visual aspects of a product, with the aim of enhancing its functionality, usability, and aesthetics

This involves a broad range of tasks, such as researching and analyzing customer needs, designing user interfaces, creating sketches and prototypes, testing and refining designs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the final product meets the intended user needs and business goals

A product designer must have a deep understanding of design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and technological advancements in order to create products that are both innovative and functional

They must also have excellent communication skills, as they work closely with engineers, marketing teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that the product is developed on time, within budget, and meets the desired quality standards

Product designers work in a variety of industries, such as consumer electronics, furniture, automotive, fashion, and healthcare, to name a few

They may work for large corporations, small businesses, or as freelance designers, and often collaborate with other designers, engineers, and manufacturers to bring their designs to life

In web3, a product designer is responsible for designing and creating decentralized applications (dApps) and other products that leverage blockchain technology, smart contracts, and decentralized networks

This involves understanding the unique technical and functional requirements of web3 products, as well as the principles of decentralization, transparency, and user ownership

Web3 product designers need to be familiar with blockchain technology, smart contract programming languages, and decentralized networks, in order to design products that can operate effectively in a decentralized environment

They need to be able to work with developers and other stakeholders to ensure that the product is designed in a way that maximizes user control and ownership, while minimizing the potential for fraud or malicious activity

Web3 product designers may work on a range of products, such as decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, non-fungible token (NFT) marketplaces, decentralized social networks, and more

They may also work closely with blockchain developers, economists, and other specialists to create products that are both innovative and practical, while maintaining a strong focus on user experience.
