About the role
As the Research Engineer at Polymer Labs, you will lead research projects, build proofs of concepts, and transfer research findings to the engineering team to incorporate your innovative solutions. You will be conducting advanced research on cutting-edge blockchain technologies including but not limited to rollups, modular blockchains, shared sequencing and more.
You will have the opportunity to be part of Polymer’s long-term vision of building the Ethereum Interoperability Hub.

Web3 experience is required.

You Will:

    • R&D: Conduct research in multiple blockchain-related areas, including, but not limited to, rollups, modular blockchains, shared sequencing, focused on how these technologies can be leveraged to create new innovations for interoperability
    • Publications: Write technical reports and/or research articles, possibly presenting findings at industry or academic events
    • Prototyping: Build innovative prototypes and Proof of Concepts to apply your research with engineers and thought leaders
    • Communication: Engage in activities with IBC KOLs and stakeholders. Participate in sharing knowledge and fostering innovation with the wider community.
    • Roadmap: Work closely with the business team to shape the roadmap for the protocol and technology, ensuring alignment with our business objectives

You Have:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Proven research or development experience (5+ years) in blockchain technology, or a related role in the blockchain, crypto, or the fintech industry.
    • Strong technical understanding of blockchain technology, Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC), and/or related concepts.
    • Background in cryptography, protocol engineering, and/or distributed systems.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
    • Proactive and self-motivated, with a passion for blockchain technology and its potential to revolutionize the industry.
    • Published articles or educational materials are a huge plus.

    • The engineering team is a diverse group of people with backgrounds working at a variety of both web2 and web3 organizations like Google, Uber, Chronosphere, Arista Networks, etc. Polymer Labs is a software development shop supporting the Polymer protocol and IBC (https://ibcprotocol.org/).
