Newton team members are spread out across Canada within a fully-remote capacity.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for the planning, delivery, mentoring, and coaching of a full-stack development team to partner with our Marketing Growth initiatives across our product suite. In this role, you will work closely with the marketing team and help with cross-team priorities and management.

As an Engineering Manager you will be responsible for • Leading the engineering teams effort to effectively execute marketing roadmaps and produce quality deliverables • Working with key stakeholders to experiment on the platform, driving numbers up 1% at a time • Collaborating with cross-functional peers (i.e. product, design, marketing, data) to shape product vision • Driving best practices and promoting innovation • Driving team members growth and performance, both technically and professionally • Providing critical professional feedback to team members that they coach • Ensuring the team is properly resourced with the proper skills and develop plans to address skill and resourcing gaps on the team • Driving team health and cohesion, ensuring a good mix to technical and soft skills within the team to achieve team objectives • Reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates for the team

Nice to haves • 2 years of people management experience in building and leading geographically distributed engineering teams • 5 years of hands-on development experience for large-scale applications • Worked on growth or product teams that use data to guide product direction • Enjoy jumping into the data yourself to learn more about users and user acquisition opportunities • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and support a rapidly growing business
