The Engineers working at Chainalysis build systems that detect fraud in real-time. Chainalysis builds trust in blockchains between people, businesses, and governments. Our Associate Staff Engineers, lead their own projects as Tech leads and work with 3-4 engineers to execute a given project. While doing that, they also mentor other engineers working on other projects within the same team/group and help them refine their systems design and in making architectural decisions on the other projects as well. They also work with other teams to run cross team pods.

The Chainalysis engineering team is building a suite of compliance and investigation products for cryptocurrency businesses, traditional financial institutions and governments. Backend Engineers at Chainalysis build and scale backend services. They build data ingestion pipelines, optimize/scale database operations and create event driven systems. Backend Engineers on the team thrive on not just designing and implementing complex systems but also operating them. We measure our success by how well we enable our customers to fight crime and handle compliance.

In one year you’ll know you were successful if…

  • You’ve added features to our product suite that detect activities for market manipulation, fraud, behavioral patterning, and more
  • You have built a scalable API service on AWS that handles up to 1000 requests per second
  • You have helped the team to modernize our stack to a streaming architecture
  • You have debugged production issues across multiple systems and microservices

A background like this helps:

  • Designed and implemented cloud-native micro services based distributed systems
  • Have built data pipeline infrastructure
  • Experience in designing and implementing event-driven architecture
  • Have bias to ship
  • Take pride in materializing product ideas to production

We take care of our people with great benefits, professional development opportunities, and fun.

What does a back-end developer in Web3 do?

A back-end developer in web3 typically works on the server-side of a web application, using technologies that are specific to the decentralized web (also known as Web3-related)

This might involve building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports decentralized applications (dApps), or developing the underlying smart contracts and blockchain-based systems that power those dApps

In general, the goal of a back-end developer in web3 is to create the technologies and tools that enable users to interact with the decentralized web in a secure and seamless way.
