What You'll Do
- Help support the ongoing management of financial activities for multiple business entities concurrently.
- Analyzing complex financial reports and records
- Making recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets, and expenditures
- Reviewing journal entries of junior accountants to ensure accuracy.
- Training and mentoring junior staff.
- Performing variance analyses and preparing account reconciliations
- Assisting with financial and tax audits
- Documenting and monitoring internal controls in support of auditing team.
- Coordinating more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.
- Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
- Process payroll in a timely manner
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.
- Maintain the chart of accounts.
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report.
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics.
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
- Provide a system of management cost reports.
- Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Coordinate the provision of information to internal and external auditors for the annual audit.
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Be responsible for the filing of reports with the Nevada Financial Institutions Division
What You'll Need
- Ability to manage financial activities for multiple business entities concurrently.
- BS or MS degree in Accounting, Finance and CPA
- Minimum 5 yearsâ of progressively responsible experience in corporate setting
- Minimum of 2 yearsâ experience in public accounting at a big 4 firm
- Computer science background or excellent skills in MS PowerPoint and Excel, including creating financial models and develop dynamic applications
- Advanced MS Excel skills including: Vlookups, pivot tables, and financial models, data manipulation and navigation
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Strong communication skills for internal business department and outside investors
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience with accounting for intercompany activity a plus
- Ability to work independently
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook)
- A willingness to roll-up your sleeves and get work done
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
