Exponent is looking for a smart contract engineer to work on protocol updates and advance Exponent as a core financial infrastructure for Solana’s onchain economy. As an early-stage startup, we seek engineers who can iterate and ship quickly while demonstrating a high degree of autonomy.

Exponent is a yield exchange protocol that came out of stealth at the end of 2024. It allows users to exchange variable yields for fixed yields within Solana DeFi and introduces a new class of assets, sharing similarities with bonds and strips for fixed and leveraged yield trading.

The team of contributors behind Exponent has years of experience working in Solana for leading teams and is backed by investors like Solana Ventures, RockawayX, Robot Ventures, Mechanism, and more.

We believe interest rate predictability is a fundamental primitive for any economy and aim to fill this gap within Solana DeFi through Exponent.

Your Responsibilities

In this role you will work with our engineering team and:

• Contribute to, maintain, and improve Exponent’s core programs such as our AMM
• Work closely with our smart contract and product teams to scope and implement new protocol features
• When needed, integrate new Solana-based protocols into Exponent and write interfaces for them

In sum, you will enjoy this role if you are interested in tackling complex DeFi challenges and designing financial infrastructure that is critical to powering Solana's onchain economic activities.

Requirements

Although we don’t look for exact minimum years of experience, we expect you to have some existing qualifications:

• Highly proficient in Rust
• You can easily understand major DeFi primitives (AMM, borrow/lend, order book, perpetual margin trading)
• A passion for decentralized finance
