The Company

Swan is a leading Bitcoin-only financial services company supporting individuals and companies throughout their Bitcoin journey. We hire passionate Bitcoiners who want to work with a self-motivated and fully distributed startup team.

The Role

Swan is building a data team to work in a cross-functional fashion across multiple internal teams including engineering, finance, marketing, sales, product, and risk. The Data Engineer role will focus on data consistency and schema design, as well as implementing data transmission within Swan products.

Your responsibilities

  • Work with product, marketing, and other data-driven teams to define and implement consistent event schemas.
  • Collaborate with engineering team on code updates to ensure event and property consistency.
  • Configure analytics tools like PostHog/Mixpanel/Amplitude/GA to visualize data in partnership with product teams.
  • Identify and troubleshoot data quality and integration issues.
  • Create and manage monitors and alerts (Datadog) to proactively identify and address data issues.
  • Work with marketing to integrate reporting for paid ads and other campaigns into the data pipeline.
  • Work closely with data pipeline tools such as Rudderstack to integrate sources and destinations.
  • Contribute to overall data pipeline architecture initiatives such as data warehousing, data processing, BI tooling such as Quicksight.
  • Contribute to data governance initiatives, ensuring data quality and integrity, working closely with Security team to ensure data transmission is compliant with data privacy policies.

Skills and experience that will help you succeed

  • Experience in fast growth high tech environments in a data engineering role.
  • Strong proficiency in data modeling and schema design.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Javascript, TypeScript, or similar) including unit testing.
  • Experience with event tracking and configuration tools (e.g., PostHog, RudderStack).
  • Experience with paid ad campaigns a big plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with modern data analytics and visualization tools
  • Broad experience with data warehousing and customer data pipelines
  • A good understanding of AWS core services, concepts, and tooling for data pipelines a plus
