About Zenith

Zenith extends the Canton Network by enabling participants to launch customizable Virtual Blockchains that integrate seamlessly with Canton’s privacy, compliance, and settlement infrastructure. These EVM execution environments (later other VMs) allow institutions and innovators to build interoperable, compliant, and scalable financial systems on top of Canton.

Operating at the intersection of DeFi and TradFi, Zenith is constructing the foundation for Web2.5, a technological renaissance where institutional-grade ledgers and consumer blockchains converge to modernize global finance.

Our team combines decades of experience across blockchain infrastructure, capital markets, and venture innovation. We are proud to be one of the Canton Network’s key ecosystem actors, extending its ecosystem to directly deliver institutional trust, compliance, and scalability to the next generation of digital assets.

What you’ll do

This is a critical engineering leadership role for a hands-on builder who can scale Zenith's development organization to the next level. You will oversee and coordinate engineering activities across internal teams, external contributors, and client integrations — ensuring that Zenith delivers world-class infrastructure with precision and reliability.

  • Build and evolve internal engineering processes: Establish development workflows, coordination frameworks, and execution standards across protocol and infrastructure teams.
  • Co-lead engineering strategy: Work closely with the CTO and Head of Product to align architecture, planning, technical priorities, and delivery across the full product and protocol roadmap.
  • Oversee external development partners: Design processes and governance for collaborating with external engineering teams contributing to the Zenith Virtual Blockchains.
  • Coordinate client and prover integrations**:** Oversee the end-to-end integration of Virtual Blockchains and prover workflows, ensuring smooth technical alignment across contributing partners.
  • Drive project management excellence: Own the technical project boards (GitHub or equivalent), ensuring transparency, alignment, prioritization, and on-time execution.
  • Implement engineering best practices: Introduce strong practices around testing, release processes, documentation, and cross-team communication.
  • Contribute to code when needed: Step in across the stack when bottlenecks arise. Help unblocking teams through hands-on contributions when required.

To join our team, you should be excited to

  • Help build the engineering foundation of a company redefining institutional blockchain infrastructure.
  • Translate high-level product and protocol strategy into organized, actionable engineering execution.
  • Serve as a central technical coordinator across CTO, CBO, Head of Product, internal engineers, and external partners, ensuring smooth alignment and rapid issue resolution.
  • Operate at the intersection of distributed systems, new innovative multi-layer, multi-VM blockchain and enterprise-grade protocol integrations.
  • Lead by example: balancing strategic oversight with hands-on support when needed.
  • Introduce structure, discipline, and world-class processes into a fast-moving engineering team.

Minimum qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years in engineering leadership roles (Director, VP, Head of Engineering, or equivalent).
  • Strong background in distributed systems, blockchain infrastructure, or consensus systems.
  • Demonstrated success building engineering processes, development workflows, and project management frameworks in high-growth environments.
  • Experience coordinating or overseeing multiple engineering teams, including external or geographically distributed groups.
  • Strong understanding of modern development practices — CI/CD, testing frameworks, release management, and documentation systems.
  • Ability to serve as a technical coordinator, driving alignment between product, engineering, and business functions.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to translate technical complexity into clear direction and actionable plans.
  • Organized, process-driven, and comfortable introducing scalable systems where none yet exist.
  • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves and contributing code when necessary.
  • Based in Europe (preferred), with the ability to operate across global time zones.

Bonus points

  • Experience building or scaling engineering organizations in blockchain, cryptography, prover systems, L1/L2 infrastructure, or other decentralized systems.
  • Familiarity with Canton Network, DAML, Digital Asset tooling, or enterprise blockchain architectures.
  • Proven success managing external engineering vendors or open-source contributors.
  • Strong project management instincts. Experience running engineering roadmaps with GitHub Projects, Linear, or similar.
  • Familiarity with reth / EVM internals, or other blockchain execution environment implementations.
  • Familiarity of ZK proving using zkVMs.
  • Prior involvement in highly regulated or institutional technology environments.

Zenith culture

At Zenith, we only do first-class business, and we do it in a first-class way.

We operate with ambition, precision, and mutual respect, always playing the long game because we’re in the relationship business. We believe in the future, and we bet the firm on it.

We’re a remote-first team (meeting in person four times a year) that values both excellence and humanity. We celebrate the good times, play to win, and never lose sight of the team behind every success.

Some of our guiding principles:

  • Default to trust, empathy & respect. We assume good intent and independent capability.
  • Authority to ideas, not people. Great ideas can come from anyone. We debate based on merit, not hierarchy.
  • Manage yourself. Initiative and ownership drive us further than micromanagement ever could.
  • Meetings are tools, not habits. We keep communication lean, async, and effective.
  • Celebrate small wins. Momentum matters, and recognition keeps it alive.
  • Feedback fuels growth. Give it, receive it, and improve together.
  • Work-life fit. We fit work into life, not the other way around.
  • Rest is part of performance. Sustainable excellence requires balance.

At Zenith, you’ll architect and lead the systems that power the institutional blockchain era turning cutting-edge engineering into the trusted infrastructure of global finance.

Location: Remote (Europe preferred)
