Who We Are
Every 3 seconds a girl becomes a child bride. At VOW for Girls, we partner with community programs around the world that are already working to empower young girls, protect them from child marriage and give them opportunities to thrive.
We were founded when Mabel van Oranje, an avid human rights activist, had an aha moment at a wedding. What if she could marry the wedding industry to the cause she championed and end the international child marriage crisis? Darren Walker, the president of the Ford Foundation, got on board. And together they started VOW for Girls, the growing global movement that partners with brands and individuals to end child marriage.
Weโre on a mission to empower girls everywhere to love on their own terms. And we need world-changers like you to make this possible. Learn more at vowforgirls.org.
Job Description
Weโre looking for a creative unicorn ๐ฆ to join our digital team as our new social media manager.
Weโre a collaborative team that tells compelling stories and dreams big together. Youโd report to Cameron, our VP of Digital Fundraising and Marketing and work closely with Morgan (Community Engagement), our Creative Director (weโre also hiring for this! โจ) and people across the team.
You would be the expert on all things social. You understand how to create a content strategy that engages followers. How to run social ads that convert. And how to build a thriving community on each unique platform. Youโll determine the strategy for growing. And though youโll be creating content, you also have a creative director to collaborate with.
And on our team, youโll have incredible purpose, knowing that each social post or campaign you run will be supporting girls and freeing them from child marriage.
Who You Are
Weโre looking for someone whoโs been killing it at social for brands. Youโve grown channels quickly, create stellar content and love digging into new platforms.
You would own the strategy for social media โ both paid and organic, as we look to grow, fundraise and build communities.
Youโll be able to test, learn and come up with your best creative ideas. And youโll have the support and collaboration of our digital team behind you.
Important: We want you to apply even if you donโt check 100% of these boxes. Please include a portfolio or links, so we can see what makes you stand out.
What Youโll Do
- Create compelling social media content that people love engaging with.
- Tell captivating stories that connect with people.
- Run ad campaigns that help us reach new audiences and convert to real dollars for change.
- Build authentic communities with our existing donors and search out new ways to find supporters.
- Establish our voice as a thought leader in the girlsโ rights and social good space.
- Speak into important moments happening on social and around the globe.
- Educate people on the problems of child marriage and gender inequality in a way that connects and spreads quickly.
- Create content that can also be shared across channels like email, website and more.
- Test, learn, and dig into the data and find how we can create authentic growth at scale.
- Help us reach new donors through livestream fundraising on platforms like Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, etc.
- Hear Cameron talk about good chocolate and coffee brands you should check out (this happens a lot).
- You have the ability to grow social channels from nothing to โwoah!โ
- Weโre talking Instagram, TikTok, Youtube, Pinterest, Twitch, Snap, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, (any of these or more we havenโt heard of. I mean whatโs Zigazoo?).
- You love learning from othersโ experience and sharing what you know.
- Building culture and community with your team is a high priority for you.
- You dabble with social ads โ or if youโre amazing at it, thatโs a plus.
- Youโre someone who can explain BeReal to me.
- Youโre a content creator (copywriting, design, video, etc.).
- Youโre a creative thinker, love dreaming big and taking the risks to get there.
- Or maybe, youโre really analytical and love social insights, digging into data and gaming the system.
- It also doesnโt matter how many years experience you have, just that you have a clearly amazing track record that proves youโre good at this.
- Again, we want to know what makes you exceptional at this, not that you can check every box.
- The girls we support are whatโs most important here. So, show us why youโre the best person to create a social strategy that frees as many girls as possible.
- When you send in your portfolio, we can see the amazing work youโve done.
- Having experience growing channels from nothings to tens or hundreds of thousands. (still apply if you havenโt)
- Any experience within the crypto and web3 space is a definite plus. (but donโt let this one trip you up if you donโt)
- Any gaming or live-streaming event experience would be fun.
- If youโve worked with celebrities and major influencers over the years, please let us know. If you bring other digital marketing or creative skills to the table, weโd love to hear about them.
