Altitude
Role
We’re hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to develop high-performance services in Rust. Altitude is a team at Squads building the modern USD account for global business.
Our mission is to accelerate the world's transition to stablecoin rails. We're creating financial infrastructure that bridges on-chain and traditional banking — seamless on/off ramps, native access to stablecoins and crypto assets, integrated yield opportunities, all protected by cutting-edge security that's enforced by code, not corporate promises.
Stablecoins will consume every aspect of finance. We're here to compress that timeline.
What you’ll do
You'll build the backend services powering Altitude, working with a team shipping real products to real businesses. Our stack processes millions in daily stablecoin volume, bridging traditional banking rails with blockchain networks. You'll own entire domains from architecture to production.
Sample projects:
Real-time settlement engine reconciling on-chain and off-chain transactions
Bulk payment APIs processing thousands of transactions per second
Card issuing infrastructure with instant spend notifications
DeFi yield integration abstracting complex protocols into simple APIs
What we're looking for
5+ years backend experience shipping and operating production services
Strong Rust experience (or background in Go/C++ with willingness to dive into Rust)
Proven work with gRPC & HTTP APIs, service contracts and multi-service architectures
Solid PostgreSQL and Redis skills - schema design, performance tuning, debugging
AWS (ECS) and Docker expertise - containerized services, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform
Strong engineering fundamentals - observability, testing and benchmarking
Fintech or transaction-heavy systems experience
Solana exposure (RPC clients, transactions, on-chain concepts) - bonus
Why Join
We're a small, talent-dense team building a generation-defining company. We value high ownership, high velocity and low-ego collaboration. We seek people who care deeply, challenge us, and are driven to build something of lasting impact.
Stablecoins were once a niche experiment. Today, they’re one of the fastest-growing technologies in history. Now it’s reshaping the entire financial system. If you want to be part of the team that makes this transition happen, join us.
About Squads
Since 2021, Squads has built the infrastructure for programmable money on Solana. Our product suite includes Squads Protocol (autonomous finance layer), Grid (open finance APIs), Fuse (personal finance app) and Altitude (business banking) — all designed for a world where value moves as freely as information. We're backed by leading investors and process billions in transaction volume across 150+ countries.
