Your mission

As an integral member of our Corporate & Legal Affairs team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our corporate development, governance structures as well as litigation strategies, audit processes and handling of complex financial transactions. This position demands proficiency in civil and corporate law as well as litigation and a keen understanding of regulatory aspects pertinent to Bitpanda's multifaceted operations within the EU and beyond. You will need to think globally and act locally, building a sound foundation for Bitpanda’s group structure and processes as well as the products and services to enable and protect the business across the globe supporting its continued growth and innovation.

What you’ll do

  • Serving as the primary legal advisor for various matters pertaining to corporate development, structured finance, audit, governance, litigation and general dispute resolution;

  • Work closely with different departments within Bitpanda to provide the background and structure to navigate and shape the legal framework of our group and business;

  • Providing comprehensive legal advice on a vast range of issues, including civil law matters, contracts, corporate governance, loan structures, establishment of new entities and branches, compliance, pending litigation cases with courts and tribunals and any other matters that may arise in the day-to-day operations of an expanding global fintech;

  • Drafting, reviewing and revising an array of business and legal documents, ensuring their alignment with our corporate objectives and regulatory standards including such as loan agreements, SLAs, corporate documents, commercial contracts, written pleadings, internal and external policies, capital requirement documents, and anything else that the business may require as part of its set up and the beginning of its business operations; and

  • Leading high-priority projects, tracking internal and external processes, and preparing insightful reports for management.

Who you are

  • A university degree in law from a Austrian/German/Swiss university with a strong focus on civil and civil procedural law and/or corporate law, as well as other legal areas such as supervisory law or IT Law.

  • A practising lawyer with a minimum of 3 years professional experience in financial markets, banking and/or financial services gained at a reputable law firm or in-house completed (bar exam is an advantage), specialising in the field of corporate law (M&A) and/or litigation and dispute resolution.

  • Strong interest in and common understanding of crypto-assets and crypto-related products and/or stocks / trading as well as a good working knowledge of traditional financial products.

  • Excellent knowledge of corporate structures, litigation, financial institutions and the regulatory environment, and general understanding in relation to AML5, MIFID II, PSD2 and EMI.

  • Team player, quick comprehension, solution-oriented way of working, ability to work reliably both independently as well as part of a team. An articulate communicator with strong diplomatic skills, able to effectively liaise with all levels within the organization, from the C-suite to the graduate level. Fluency in English is essential.
