We are looking for an extraordinary communications associate who is passionate about bitcoin and crypto as an instrument of economic empowerment. Reporting to the Crypto Communications Lead, you will work closely with teams across Block to communicate our range of bitcoin and crypto-focused initiatives in a way that is as beautiful, easy to understand, and empowering as the tools our building blocks create. The role requires resourcefulness, creativity, and the ability to remain unflappable as the fast-paced and ever-evolving world of crypto continues to take shape. 

You will:

• Work closely with the Crypto Communications Lead to develop and execute inventive strategies to communicate Block’s crypto initiatives across all of our building blocks in ways that resonate with our audiences.  

• Maintain media relationships on behalf of our building blocks with essential national business, financial, crypto and technology press. 

• Work alongside many teams across Block, including Cash App, hardware, policy, legal, TBD, Spiral, COPA, design, internal communications, engineering, and many more. 

• Develop written materials, including company messaging and statements, press releases, communications plans, FAQs, and other collateral.

• Maintain lists, reports, coverage roundups and other systems to help ensure the team continues to run smoothly.

• Identify and coordinate relevant speaking opportunities for representatives of our building blocks.  

• 3+ years relevant work experience, either at a PR agency or on an in-house communications team.

• Communications experience within the cryptocurrency industry is required 

• Experience pitching financial, business, crypto, and technology publications.

• Ability to synthesize complex concepts to create messages that are consistent but tailored to multiple partners.

• Outstanding writing and editing skills.

• Skills in shaping and executing simultaneous projects. You can multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

• Great organizational skills, able to maintain speaking calendars, media lists, executive bios, as well collating media coverage for the wider crypto comms and corporate comms teams.    

• Enthusiasm, an exceptional work ethic, a self-starter attitude, and a belief in the mission of Block. 

• Curiosity, creative thinking, and a sense of humor.
