Staff/Principal Backend Engineer - HFT/Ultra Low Latency
What you'll do
- Build ultra-low latency trading engines and execution systems in Rust
- Design and implement high-performance order matching and routing systems
- Optimize system architecture for microsecond-level latency requirements
- Build out APIs and integrations with exchanges and liquidity providers
- Lead performance profiling, benchmarking, and optimization efforts
- Enthusiastically collaborate with a small team, owning and planning projects for long-term impact
- Teach and mentor other engineers
What you'll bring to the team
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- 9+ years of professional engineering experience
- Expert-level Rust experience with focus on zero-copy operations, lock-free programming, and memory optimization
- Deep experience building ultra-low latency trading systems (HFT/high-frequency trading)
- Deep understanding of network protocols, kernel bypass techniques, and hardware acceleration
- Proven track record optimizing for sub-millisecond latencies in production trading environments
- Experience with CPU pinning and low-level performance tuning
- Familiarity with SQL, query planning and optimization
- Exceptional judgment, strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills with a strong analytical mindset
Bonus points if you have experience with these technologies
- FPGA programming or hardware acceleration
- Market data feed handlers and order management systems
