Newton team members are spread out across Canada within a fully-remote capacity.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for the planning, delivery, mentoring, and coaching of a growing web and mobile development team across our product suite. In this role, you will work closely with the product and design teams and help with cross-team priorities and management.

As an Engineering Manager you will be responsible for • Leading the engineering teams effort to effectively execute product roadmaps and produce quality deliverables • Collaborating with cross-functional peers (i.e. product, design, data) to shape product vision • Driving best practices and promoting innovation • Driving team members growth and performance, both technically and professionally • Providing critical professional feedback to team members that they coach • Ensuring the team is properly resourced with the proper skills and develop plans to address skill and resourcing gaps on the team • Driving team health and cohesion, ensuring a good mix to technical and soft skills within the team to achieve team objectives • Reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates for the team • Rolling up your sleeves and jumping into the code when needed

Nice to haves • 2 years of people management experience in building and leading geographically distributed engineering teams • 5 years of hands-on development experience in mobile or web applications • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and support a rapidly growing business
