BlockFi is looking for a Corporate Counsel to join our growing team!

About Your Team

We are seeking a highly motivated team player to join BlockFi’s Legal team as Corporate Counsel. The person in this role will work with both internal stakeholders and external counsel to advise on, draft, review and negotiate documentation for all transactional matters for BlockFi. This will include: fiat and cryptoasset loans, mining equipment financing, derivatives and other related agreements. The ideal candidate is someone with experience in the lending, equipment financing, corporate banking and/or OTC derivative space.

As part of a fast growing and increasingly global company, the Corporate Counsel will have exposure to a wide array of interesting and unique situations and will have exposure to clients from around the world.

This is a remote position which can be located in either the US or the UK

Responsibilities:

• Negotiate lending and swap arrangements with institutional counter-parties.
• Review and negotiate vendor contracts.
• Manage relationships with external law firms.
• Assist with employment-related and other general corporate matters.
• Work with the Corporate Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer on regulatory strategy.

Your Expertise

• Minimum 7+ years at a major law firm or in-house legal department
• Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating the legal terms of a broad range of commercial and trading contracts, with a focus on derivative or debt agreements
• Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent) and active law license in at least one U.S. state in good standing
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality work product in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels
• Experience working collaboratively with different stakeholders including Sales, Trading, and Risk
• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
• Practical and getting to “yes” approach
• Willing to consider both U.S. and U.K. based candidates
