Senior Blockchain Architect
Global Settlement (globalsettlement.com) is building the future of digital settlement—an institutional-grade blockchain network designed to seamlessly bridge traditional banking and digital markets through stablecoins, commodities, FX, and RWAs.
Role Description
We're hiring a Senior Blockchain Architect to own the technical vision for our settlement infrastructure. This is a full-time role on our blockchain infrastructure team.
This is a design and technical leadership role. You'll define the architecture of our core chain—node infrastructure, consensus, cross-chain systems, and protocol-level design—set the standards the engineering organization builds against, and drive the decisions that determine how the network scales. You'll stay close enough to the code to validate your designs, but your primary output is architecture, not implementation.
What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end architecture of our blockchain node infrastructure and settlement protocol
- Define and evolve consensus design (PoA, PoS, BFT variants) for enterprise-grade performance and finality
- Architect cross-chain communication and bridging systems for multi-network interoperability
- Set technical direction and standards across chain-level systems, and drive architectural alignment with the smart contract and application teams
- Lead the RFC and design-review process; make and document the high-stakes build-vs-buy and protocol-selection decisions
- Evaluate emerging protocols, L1/L2 architectures, and settlement patterns, and translate research into roadmap
- Establish the security, scalability, and reliability principles every chain-level system is held to
- Mentor senior engineers and raise the architectural bar across the engineering organization
- Own architecture decision records, technical standards, and implementation guidelines
What You Bring
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years in blockchain and a track record of owning system architecture
- Deep expertise in blockchain node infrastructure, consensus algorithms, and protocol-level design—demonstrated through systems you've architected and shipped
- Proficiency in one or more of: Rust, Go, Solidity, Java, or Python, with the depth to set technical standards across them
- Strong working knowledge of blockchain platforms such as Ethereum, Cosmos, Hyperledger, or comparable L1/L2 networks
- Solid command of cryptographic primitives, key management, and on-chain security practices
- Experience designing for cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- A record of production blockchain infrastructure at scale—architecture you've defined, not just code you've written
- The ability to make decisive technical calls, defend them with clear reasoning, and bring teams along
Nice to Have
- Experience architecting stablecoin systems, CBDC infrastructure, or RWA tokenization
- Familiarity with cross-chain protocols and interoperability standards
- Background in financial services, payments, or regulated settlement systems
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in digital asset markets
Note: This is primarily a chain-level architecture role. The core focus is consensus, node operations, cross-chain systems, and protocol design. Smart contract work is part of the landscape, but if your experience is solely in smart contract development—or in implementation without ownership of system-level design—this likely isn't the right fit.
