Proof of work

The team

At Kraken, data is both a strategic asset and the foundation of trust with our users, partners, and stakeholders and the data team is the backbone of decision-making.

We’re looking for a Data Analyst, Risk and Operational Performance to join our team remotely! The primary goal of this role is to elevate decision-making by uncovering emerging trends and root causes, and by driving insights and actions that provide full visibility into business performance and operational efficiency.

Beyond technical expertise, success in this role depends on being a true business partner who combines data-driven insights with strategic thinking to deliver actionable recommendations, guide decision-making, and drive measurable impact across the organization.

In this role, you’ll own end-to-end data management from building and maintaining datasets and pipelines to designing dashboards and delivering insights for the Core Services team. Additionally, you’ll also contribute to experimentation infrastructure and ML initiatives, including launching and evaluating A/B experiments.

You will be, quite literally and quantitatively, defining success on a daily basis for our Core Services and other teams across the organization. Join us and be part of a team where data is not just an asset but our language, our tool, and our future!

The opportunity

  • Act as a trusted business advisor to the Core Service team, proactively identifying trends and driving efficiency improvements

  • Own the design of dashboards, metrics, and reports, turning data into actionable insights for the fraud, funding, risk and support experience teams

  • Dive into large, complex datasets/logs to turn your findings into scalable data models necessary to facilitate reporting, analytics and ML models

  • Lead cross-functional projects with analysts, scientists, engineers, and product teams to build data pipelines using Airflow, Python, and DBT

  • Develop and automate reporting of key performance indicators across core services teams

  • Be at the forefront of data innovation by experimenting, testing hypotheses, and translating insights into action.

  • Develop high-quality code for pipelines and dashboards, incorporating software engineering best practices

Skills you should HODL

  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis and data management within the Fintech industry gained in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

  • Experience working with fraud, funding, finance and customer support teams to analyze and optimize operational performance across the business systems

  • This role requires expert SQL skills and hands-on experience in Python

  • Hands-on experience using dbt (data build tool) to model and organize data for reporting and decision-making

  • Experience setting up and managing data pipelines, with a strong understanding of data workflow orchestration

  • Capable of creating intuitive dashboards and visualizations to communicate complex insights clearly

  • Strong communicator who can simplify complex data ideas for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • You believe wholeheartedly in the values outlined in Kraken’s Tentaclements document

  • A degree in a field emphasizing analytical rigor, such as analytics, software engineering or economics.

  • Based in Canada and the US and fluent in English.

Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.

We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.

Kraken is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate all Krakenites for their diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions and unique perspectives. We hire strictly based on merit, meaning we seek out the candidates with the right abilities, knowledge, and skills considered the most suitable for the job. We encourage you to apply for roles where you don't fully meet the listed requirements, especially if you're passionate or knowledgable about crypto!

As an equal opportunity employer, we don’t tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind. Whether that’s based on race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, citizenship, religion, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy, veteran status or any other protected characteristic as outlined by federal, state or local laws.
