About the Opportunity
OKX is expanding its operations in Brazil under the new regulatory framework for virtual asset service providers (SPSAVs) established by the Banco Central do Brasil. We're committed to building strong governance, internal controls, security, client protection, and prudential standards to align with these guidelines. As the Head of Risk, Brazil, you will lead our second-line risk management function and oversee an enterprise-wide program that supports safe and sustainable growth. You’ll work closely with teams such as Legal, Compliance, Product, Finance, and Security to ensure financial and non-financial risks are properly identified, assessed, and managed. This is a Brazil-based Director role, located in São Paulo and subject to local regulatory governance under the SPSAV framework. What You’ll Be Doing
Lead OKX Brazil’s second-line risk function, building and oversee all financial and non-financial risks across the business.
Design and enhance risk frameworks, internal controls, and governance practices in full alignment with SPSAV requirements.
Identify, assess, and monitor enterprise-wide risks such as operational, technology, cybersecurity, market, credit, liquidity, and reputational, ensuring alignment with OKX’s approved risk appetite.
Oversee client-asset protection and custody controls, ensuring risks related to the segregation and safeguarding of customer funds are captured in the risk register and monitored in line with regulatory requirements.
Provide second-line oversight of prudential risk controls, including independent review of capital adequacy, liquidity monitoring, scenario analysis, and stress testing to support financial resilience.
Provide second-line oversight of technology and cybersecurity risks, including risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs), risk appetite setting, monitoring of key risks and controls, and development of relevant KRIs.
Provide oversight of third-party and outsourcing risks, including review of risk assessments, alignment to risk appetite, monitoring through KRIs, and inclusion in the enterprise risk register..
Maintain risk governance documentation and reporting, including policies, KRIs, risk appetite statements, and regular reporting to senior management and the board.
Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and other teams to ensure regulatory obligations and financial crime controls are fully integrated into the risk framework.
Represent Risk in internal and external audits, and in supervisory engagement with Banco Central do Brasil.
Report to the Regional Head of Risk for LATAM, with a dotted-line to the Brazil CEO in accordance with local governance requirements.
What We Look For In You
10+ years of experience in enterprise risk management, internal audit, or compliance within regulated financial services, fintech, or digital asset firms.
Demonstrated leadership in building or running risk functions, including developing frameworks for internal controls, risk appetite, and governance.
Deep expertise across financial and non-financial risk domains (operational, technology/cyber, market, credit, liquidity, etc.) and strong knowledge of risk management methodologies and industry best practices.
Familiarity with banking/financial regulatory requirements in Brazil.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; able to distill complex risks into clear reports and present to senior leadership and regulators.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and to influence decision-making at all levels.
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Risk Management or a related field. Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or CGA (ANBIMA) are desirable.
Fluent Portuguese and English, with strong verbal and written skills in both languages, to engage with local regulators and global colleagues.
Must be a Brazil resident and legally eligible to work in Brazil.
Adaptable and proactive, comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving regulatory priorities.
