Proof of work

The opportunity

As Kraken prepares to transition to a public company and expand its presence in the capital markets, we are seeking one of our most critical hires to date: a Vice President, Investor Relations (VP, IR) who will lead the development and execution of Kraken’s investor relations strategy in close partnership with the C-suite, Board, and senior leadership team.

Reporting to our Co-CEOs, this leader will build a world-class IR function from the ground up, ensuring Kraken’s story resonates across institutional investors, analysts, and key stakeholders. The VP, IR will translate the company’s long-term strategic ambitions into a clear, compelling narrative and drive proactive engagement that supports valuation and credibility in the public markets.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive investor relations strategy aligned with Kraken’s growth objectives and public-market readiness.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Kraken and the investment community, including institutional investors, analysts, and investment banks.

  • Partner with the CFO and finance team to craft and deliver financial messaging, earnings materials, investor presentations, and analyst day content.

  • Oversee preparation of investor communications: quarterly earnings materials, annual reports, press releases, and regulatory filings in coordination with finance and legal teams.

  • Monitor market trends, peer performance, investor sentiment, and shareholder base composition; provide insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and the Board.

  • Build and maintain investor databases, targeting frameworks, and engagement analytics.

  • Lead proactive investor outreach through conferences, roadshows, and one-on-one meetings.

  • Ensure compliance with SEC and stock-exchange requirements, supporting corporate governance and disclosure standards.

  • Partner with communications, legal, and operations teams to maintain consistent external messaging and brand integrity.

  • Provide regular reporting to the executive team and Board on investor engagement, market perception, and share performance.

Skills You Should HODL

  • 15+ years of experience in investor relations, corporate finance, or capital markets, ideally at a publicly traded company or a high-growth organization preparing to go public.

  • Deep understanding of equity capital markets, shareholder dynamics, analyst coverage, valuation drivers, and IPO/SPAC/M&A processes.

  • Strong financial acumen with expertise in financial statements, modeling, valuation, and communicating complex metrics in a clear, investor-focused manner.

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to craft investor-facing presentations, earnings scripts, Q&A prep, press releases, and high-stakes stakeholder messaging.

  • Experience crafting multi-year investor communication plans and executing them seamlessly during public-company transitions

  • Established relationships with sell-side analysts, institutional investors, investment banks, and other capital markets participants, or the ability to build them quickly.

  • Executive presence with the gravitas to represent Kraken in high-visibility forums including earnings calls, investor conferences, and roadshows.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory disclosure, SEC and stock-exchange requirements, and public-company IR best practices.

  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills, coordinating across finance, legal, communications, and external advisors to deliver a unified investor engagement program.

Nice to haves

  • Prior experience leading an IPO process, or transitioning a private company to the public markets.

  • Experience in and/or passion for crypto.
