About the Role Figure is hiring a Senior Manager, Tax to serve as the founding member of our internal tax function. In this highly visible role, you will take ultimate ownership of Figure's tax strategy, compliance, and provision infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, you will act as the primary liaison with external tax advisors while establishing internal processes to scale alongside our rapid growth. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Legal to evaluate the tax implications of new blockchain lending products, corporate structures, and digital asset transactions. If you are passionate about the intersection of cutting-edge blockchain technology and complex corporate taxation, and want to solve the challenges of building a tax function from the ground up, this role is for you. What You’ll Do

Establish and own Figure’s foundational tax function, building repeatable, scalable processes across all corporate tax pillars. Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of all federal, state, and local corporate tax returns in partnership with external tax advisors. Lead the review of the quarterly and annual income tax provisions (ASC 740), ensuring accurate documentation and financial statement disclosures. Evaluate and analyze the tax implications of new business lines, blockchain-native loan products, and digital asset features (such as tokenized funds or stablecoins). Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Legal, and Finance teams to proactively integrate tax planning into company initiatives and operational designs. Monitor and interpret evolving domestic tax laws, particularly IRS regulations regarding digital assets, crypto transactions, and financial technology. Direct and coordinate all responses to federal and state tax audits, inquiries, and notices. Design and implement internal tax controls and workflows built to withstand rigorous public company audit and SOX compliance standards. Optimize and manage the company’s intercompany agreements and sales/use tax obligations. Manage the annual R&D tax credit study to ensure it is completed accurately and on time.  Review the nexus positions across all active states to ensure ongoing state tax compliance obligations are identified and addressed. Lead intercompany transfer pricing studies in coordination with external advisors, ensuring documentation is current, defensible, and aligned with the company’s entity structure Own all year-end information reporting obligations (including Forms 1099, 1098, and other customer-facing tax statements), partnering cross-functionally with Operations and Product to ensure reporting is accurate and timely,

What We Look For

7+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, combining Big 4 or top-tier public accounting with high-growth corporate tax environments. Active CPA license preferred. Deep technical knowledge of ASC 740, US GAAP financial reporting, and corporate federal/state tax compliance. Strong technical interest or direct experience in fintech, debt/lending instruments, digital assets, or blockchain-based financial products. Proven ability to work with large, complex financial datasets and leverage technology to automate workflows. A "high-ownership" mindset with a track record of driving projects from inception to completion as a self-starter. Excellent communication and translation skills—the ability to clearly articulate complex tax risks and concepts to non-tax stakeholders, leadership, and auditors. Adhere to all company security policies and data handling procedures. Complete mandatory security awareness training within required timeframes. Promptly report any suspected security incidents or suspicious activity to the Security team.

Salary

Base Compensation Range: $131,750-$178,250/yr 25% annual bonus target, paid quarterly  Company equity in the form of RSUs

This is the compensation range for the role in the United States. Actual compensation may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, internal equity, and evolving business needs. While most offers are generally made within the middle of the range, final compensation is determined based on the factors above. Benefits
