Application Security Engineer

As a Coinsquare Application Security Engineer, and part of Coinsquare’s Application Security Team, you will work closely with the Product, Engineering, IT and DevOps / Infrastructure teams to build, maintain and improve the security measures for Canada’s largest and most secure digital currency exchange. In this role you will ensure that Coinsquare’s infrastructure and codebase are aligned with our long-term growth plans, with security being the primary focus. You’ll influence processes that encourage a security-first development mindset. The ideal candidate will have real-world experience either as a developer or working closely with development teams.  The candidate will have an aptitude for breaking things, pulling them apart and putting them back together more secure then they were before.  They will be dedicated to self learning, and perfectly comfortable with online self-paced courses.  If they don’t have the answer they’ll know how to find it.

Responsibilities : - Take the lead in ensuring that Coinsquare implements and maintains a security-first posture for all its development activities.  - This will include managing a Secure SDLC, working closely with the development, devops and infrastructure teams to ensure the lifecycle is followed on a consistent, reliable and repeatable basis. - Assess vulnerabilities and perform penetration tests on Coinsquare applications. - Work closely with IT and infrastructure to implement secure practices. - Build, deploy and maintain tools to help with security intrusion detection and prevention. - Investigate and resolve incidents, while continuously improving security processes.

Requirements: - A computer science degree or relevant work experience - Experience in a variety of programming languages - Experience with multiple operating systems - At least 5 years of real-world experience, leading or collaborating with peers - Experience resolving or researching security vulnerabilities at the application layer. - A track record of continuous learning related to modern security development -Information security knowledge focused on application security or secure SDLC - Experience with Python and/or Go and AppSec tooling within a CI/CD environment -Demonstrate an understanding of Cloud Infrastructure Security - Solid understanding of application security concepts and best practices

Nice to Have: -Experience working with digital assets and blockchain -Experience with Kubernetes and containers security best practices -Experience working with or researching Cryptocurrencies -Reverse engineering experience
