Engineering Manager (Retail Trading)
Responsibilities
- Lead and Mentor: Manage and grow a high-performing, cross-functional engineering team (iOS, Android, Backend, QA), fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Technical Strategy & Execution: Partner with the Product Manager to define the product roadmap and technical strategy. Drive the end-to-end delivery of new features and products, from conception and design to development, deployment, and maintenance.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the primary engineering voice, collaborating closely with product, design, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
- Fill the Gaps: Proactively identify and address technical, process, or resource gaps within the engineering team to ensure smooth and efficient development cycles.
- Architectural Oversight: Guide the team in making sound architectural decisions for scalable, secure, and reliable systems that support our global retail trading platform.
- Operational Excellence: Champion best practices for software development, including agile methodologies, code reviews, testing, and CI/CD, to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
- Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate project status, risks, and technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Innovation and Growth: Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, empowering the team to experiment with new technologies and approaches to solve complex problems.
Requirements
- Proven Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading, managing, and mentoring software engineering teams, preferably in a cross-functional environment including mobile (iOS/Android) and backend engineers.
- Strong Technical Acumen: A strong background in software development with the ability to contribute to technical discussions and architectural decisions. While hands-on coding isn't the primary focus, familiarity with technologies like Golang, Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Redis, and Kafka is highly preferred.
- Mobile Expertise: Experience with native mobile development (iOS, Android) and/or cross-platform frameworks like React Native is a huge plus.
- Product Partnership: Experience working as a key engineering partner with product managers to build and deliver successful products.
- Domain Expertise: A deep understanding of the retail trading, fintech, or financial services industry is a significant advantage. Knowledge of blockchain technology is a plus.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: A "get things done" mentality with a proven ability to navigate ambiguity, solve complex technical challenges, and drive projects to completion.
- Excellent Communication: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent command of English (written and spoken) and proficiency in spoken Mandarin.
- Scalability and Performance: Experience with designing and building scalable, secure, and high-performance systems for large-scale applications.
