  • 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, leading backend teams in high-growth startups, with a proven track record in delivering high-quality technical solutions and managing critical production infrastructure.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize and achieve roadmap goals to achieve company goals.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, with a focus on direct communication and candid feedback.

  • Demonstrable experience in career development, performance management, team efficiency optimization, and hiring, with a commitment to continuous learning and a proactive, can-do attitude.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Standout experience:

  • You have been part of a founding team and can demonstrate scaling an engineering division.

  • Experience in fast-growing and consumer-facing startups.

  • Experience working with the CTO or senior management within a fast-paced tech organization.

About the role:

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to complete highly visible projects on time and within scope. You will play a key role in setting deadlines, assigning tasks, and promoting a culture of on-time delivery, among other tasks.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of new features and microservices while collaborating closely with engineering teams to enhance existing functionalities.

  • Optimize engineering processes and set high standards for technical quality, driving velocity and scalability.

  • Own the planning, execution, and success of projects that directly impact top-line business metrics.

  • Reduce technical debt and implement best practices to build and maintain scalable architectures.

  • Write, review, and set the technical direction through design documentation, ensuring continuous improvement and evolution of codebases.

What does success in this role look like?

  • In three months, you will have become an SME about Syndica’s product lines. You will have reviewed current processes and created efficient solutions.

  • In six months, you have earned the trust of the team. You are delivering tasks through the entire SDLC, from design through development, with minimal guidance, and you are helping to effectively mentor new engineers joining the team.

  • In twelve months, you have established a cadence of predictable, on-time delivery without cutting corners.
