At the Celo Foundation, we partner with organizations across the Celo ecosystem including cLabs, the team working on the open-source platform Celo, with a shared mission to build a regenerative digital economy that creates the conditions of prosperity for all.
Celo is a mobile-first and EVM-compatible blockchain thatās built for the real world and designed for fast, low-cost payments worldwide. As an emerging L2, the Celo network leverages core features like SocialConnect, a privacy-first naming service made for phone numbers, email addresses, and other social identifiers, and FiatConnect, an open on-/off-ramp API standard that makes sending money as easy as sending a text.
Additionally, Celo is the onchain home of regenerative finance (āReFiā), and an industry leader for real-world assets (RWAs), including stablecoins such as USDC, USDT (forthcoming), and local currencies like Mentoās eXOF and cREAL, which track the CFA Franc (used across 14 countries in sub-Saharan Africa) and the Brazilian Real, respectively.
Celo also sees the industryās fastest-growing mobile decentralized applications (dApps) and projects with a global user base and over 1,000 projects in more than 150 countries, including mobile wallets Valora and Opera MiniPay, an ultralight 2MB stablecoin wallet in Kenya, Nigeria, and Ghana, which recently crossed over 2M users after launching in September 2023.
Celo is seeking to hire a Head of Developer Relations to lead the growth of Celoās developer communities, and drive adoption of the Celo platform among the global developer community. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading the development of and management of developer and community programs, supporting application and core engineers, remain highly technical, coordinate across marketing, product, and partnership teams, and be experienced in speaking at global web3 developer events.
Most importantly, youāre passionate about real-world solutions, scaling impact, and furthering the adoption of blockchain technology to everyday users around the world.
You Will:
- Lead a team of Developer Relations Engineers and Technical Program Managers to develop and execute a developer engagement strategy
- Work cross functional within multiple teams to support initiatives that help the Celo blockchain achieve its goal of 25M transactions per day by 2025
- Design and develop a budget for identifying the best opportunities for attracting, retaining, and supporting Celoās global developer community
- Actively drive and influence growth in Celo Developer and Founder communities, enabling access to millions of mobile web3 users attracted by Celoās unique features, substantial growth and potential
- Guide developer outreach programs, including hackathons, workshops, webinars, and developer meetups
- Commit to delivering the highest-quality technical documentation, tutorials, and other educational materials to support developers in building on Celo
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to gather developer feedback, advocate for enhancements, and identify tools and platforms to improve developer experience and support mobile dApp development
- Establish and maintain relationships with key developer communities, influencers, and partners to drive awareness and adoption of the Celo platform
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and developer feedback to inform the development of Celo's developer relations strategy (Farcaster)
You Have:
- Solidity, WASM, or other smart contract development experience
- Previously managed a small team across multiple time zones, and are able to communicate clearly and effectively, remotely
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating strategy to various stakeholders both internally and externally, as well as in coordinating efforts within a decentralized, global community
- Developed, supported, or evangelized advanced, or new and novel technologies
- Community experience in: core protocol development, dApp development, developer tooling or dev ex, mobile application development, mobile web or web development
- A strong sense for the key metrics to measure to determine if programs, products, tooling, infrastructure, and overall initiatives are progressing
- Contributed to an open source project, OSS contributions to web3 project are a plus
- Proven experience in recruiting both paid and volunteer community members to broaden the teamās outreach and impact
