Midnight Society is a AAA game development studio building a PVP online multiplayer game from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. We support fully remote development and offer highly competitive salary and benefits packages for team members and their families. We are focused on building a 'Day Zero' Community, incorporating player involvement at all stages of development.
In this role you will
- Architect and implement our competitive multiplayer matchmaking system
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to build supporting platform services such as account management, payments, matchmaking, social and NFT
- Work closely with the global engineering team to design and code review feature implementation
- Document extensively and clearly communicate architecture and design with internal and co-dev teams
- Use domain knowledge and expertise to build robust scalable solutions supporting millions of active users
- Maintain existing platform and tools
The ideal candidate will posses
- 6+ years of software development experience
- Full stack experience in backend development including databases
- Prior industry experience as a software architect or tech lead
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and released products
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP and have a working knowledge of microservices and serverless tech stack
- Bonus – Prior experience working with a scalable multiplayer game engine
- Bonus – Knowledge of containers and distributed messaging systems
- Bonus – Familiarity with esports and popular PC/console games
