At the Celo Foundation we partner with organizations across the Celo ecosystem including partnering with cLabs, the team working on the open source platform Celo, whose mission is to build a financial system that creates the conditions for prosperity for all. Celo aims to remove the barriers for large-scale adoption of cryptocurrencies as means-of-payment.
Using a novel address-based encryption algorithm, the Celo protocol makes sending money as easy as sending a text. Additionally, Celo uses stable-value tokens pegged to fiat currencies, like the US Dollar, to minimize volatility.
Celo is an open protocol enabling many to participate in the system, even with a budget Android smartphone. The first application launched on the Celo platform, Valora, is a social payments and money transfer app, aimed at developing markets.
You Will:
  • Be responsible for coordinating core engineering changes through community initiatives and coordinating votes with node operators, calling attention to new votes, voting deadlines, etc.
  • Monitor, moderate and manage community sentiment on Discourse, Discord, Telegram, Twitter & forums.
  • Organize and coordinate online community events such weekly or monthly community calls, Twitter spaces, and Youtube AMAs, liaising with Celo Core Engineering and MarComms Circle.
  • Coordinate with members of the community to document conversations around proposed changes to the core Celo blockchain specification.
  • Measure and report on the success of community growth, support, and engagement initiatives with qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Develop processes for onboarding new node operators to the Celo community.
  • Advocate for and on behalf of the node operator community on technical and business incentives with the intention of creating the environment for a more robust network.
  • Document and work with the community to improve the on and off-boarding of new nodes.
  • Be an advocate for the wider Celo node and developer community.
  • Work to facilitate improvements to the process for electing new validators and help to influence the incentives for running Celo nodes.
  • Be an advocate for node operators, validators, and help to grow this number in a sustainable fashion.

You Have:

  • A minimum of 3 years of community management or social media experience in EVM compatible blockchains.
  • First hand experience running a PoS node and can talk through how each works (ETH2, etc).
  • Familiarity and know-how in operating online platforms such as Discourse, Telegram, Discord, Twitter, Medium.
  • Experience in supporting and launching community initiatives (e.g. building an online forum, launching an ambassador program, creating an event series, and writing an email newsletter).
  • An ability to identify and track relevant community metrics, and to utilize those metrics (e.g. repeat attendance at events).
  • An ability to translate and speak to highly technical topics in ways that are welcoming and inclusive.
  • Experience coordinating asynchronous groups of individuals around the world.
  • Experience hosting recurring calls with a community who may have many varying opinions and perspectives.
  • You are comfortable working remotely with a global team and a global community, across global time zones, in English and potentially in multiple other languages.

cLabs ("Celo Labs") started Celo in 2017 and is one of many contributors to the open source project Celo.cLabs builds financial technology to enable prosperity of all beings.
