As a Backend Engineer at TRM Labs, you will collaborate with an experienced team of data scientists, engineers, and product managers to build highly scalable backend systems and infrastructure for TRM's products that analyze blockchain transaction activity at a massive scale. Bringing your wealth of knowledge to the team, you will be deeply involved in the technical details and ultimately work to build a safer financial system for the world.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Architecting and building scalable, reliable, and data heavy APIs that will integrate a variety of data sources
  • Working across the stack (db, cache, code, deploy) to address technical challenges anywhere in the system
  • Finding and addressing performance issues
  • Participating in code and design reviews
  • Collaborating cross functionally with data scientists, designers, and product managers to define and implement backend services.
  • Creating novel approaches to tackling blockchain specific challenges around scale, security and privacy.

Some of the traits we value:

  • Experience building performant, and reliable production grade systems, from whiteboard to production
  • Expertise in popular storage systems such as relational databases and analytical databases (e.g., Postgres)
  • Proficiency in one or more backend server languages/frameworks (e.g., Ruby/Rails, Javascript/Node.js/Feathers.js, - Python/Django/Flask, Go)
  • Experience with software review, build and deployment systems (e.g., Github, Docker, AWS)
  • Adaptable. Goals can change fast. You anticipate and react quickly.
  • Autonomous. You own what you work on. You move fast and get things done.
  • Excellent communication. You will need communicate complex ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, and both verbally and in writing
  • Collaborative. You must work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and with people at all levels in an organization
  • Strong record of technical leadership in an academic, professional, or extracurricular setting
  • Experience with virtual currencies, applications, and their use in financial networks and blockchain analysis is a plus
