The Deputy MLRO plays a crucial role in identifying risk throughout the Compliance processes and reporting those risks to senior management. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with experience in operational risk management within the compliance department, strong analytical skills who is passionate to mitigate current risks and build a continuous improvement culture within the organisation. WHAT YOU WILL DO
Evaluate and make informed risk-based decisions on institutional client onboarding, escalations, and transaction monitoring alerts. Implement and refine risk management frameworks that drive alignment between compliance requirements and business objectives. Ensure AML/CFT policies, procedures, and frameworks comply with applicable local laws and regulations and are aligned with the broader Group Compliance program Educate and guide internal teams on AML/CFT risks, fostering a proactive compliance culture. Support the MLRO / Head of Compliance in strategic compliance initiatives, including governance reporting and policy updates. Establish and monitor key financial crime metrics, including SAR/STR filings, transaction monitoring alerts, KYC completion rates, and risk assessment trends. Conduct periodic gap analyses to assess the effectiveness of AML/CFT policies, procedures, and controls. Perform root cause analyses on control failures, identifying risk areas that require remediation. Partner with internal audit, risk, and business teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives. Responsible for preparing the risk and control assessment so as to identify potential risks and implement effective controls, validating remediation of operational risk exposure and related control gaps. Evaluate the design and effectiveness of controls and provide timely and in-depth analysis to Head of Compliance. This includes remediating control gaps or weaknesses and track the action items through to closure. Responsible for conducting root cause analysis of operational activities and developing strategies to mitigate future risks. Responsible for preparing risk reports which include detailed risk reports, dashboard, Compliance metrics to Head of Compliance and key stakeholders, highlighting key risk areas and recommend mitigating actions. Responsible for promoting risk transparency and set the right risk awareness culture. Be the subject matter exert to develop operational risk framework for Institutional Business by fostering relationship with business partners to promote continuous improvement culture. Responsible for Business Continuity Process Management, Outsourcing, Compliance Operational Risk Management. Responsible for performing Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA) Work closely with internal QA to review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) where changes are implemented. Assist in Regulatory developments and other related activities.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
At least 5+ years of work experience in operational or enterprise risk management and 4 years of work experience in regulatory governance and compliance. Strong understanding of Singapore’s AML/CFT regulatory environment (MAS PSN02, FATF guidelines, FATCA and etc.). Demonstrated ability to apply risk-based judgment in complex compliance matters. Experience in handling institutional client due diligence, transaction monitoring, and regulatory reporting. Knowledge of crypto and blockchain-based financial products is highly preferred. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge compliance rigor with business needs. Experience in facilitating top-down and bottom-up risk assessments Practical experience in Operational Risk Management (ORM) self-assessment tools, methodologies and familiar with KRIs and KCIs Proven capability in collecting and analysing data, evaluating information from systems and draw logical conclusions Track record in project management Strong skills in negotiation and problem-solving Good verbal and written communications skills to work cross functionally and at all levels. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders. High level of integrity, meticulous and client focused. Team player with flexibility and adaptability to change.
