Why this role exists

Matter Labs is building category-defining infrastructure in one of the most competitive industries in the world. That requires exceptional talent density and clear ownership.

We are strengthening our People function with additional ownership and proactive capacity.

This role exists to:

  • Increase proactivity, speed, and quality across People Operations

  • Add a high-agency operator (“Live Player”) who identifies problems early and drives them to resolution

  • Strengthen frontline People support while raising the bar on execution and judgment

  • Provide flexible generalist capacity within the People team (part-time or full-time, depending on fit)

What you’ll own

Frontline People Support

  • Act as the first point of contact for People-related topics across the company

  • Co-Own People Operations issues end-to-end: diagnose root cause, resolve, document, close

  • Handle day to day People topics with discretion, clarity, and sound judgment

  • Translate People policies into clear, practical guidance (no HR jargon)

People Operations & Systems

  • Maintain HiBob as a clean, accurate source of truth (data, workflows, lifecycle events)

  • Own and coordinate the employee onboarding experience

  • Support and co-maintain Leapsome (performance cycles, feedback, calibration prep)

  • Ensure employee records, processes, and systems are accurate, compliant, and up to date

  • Support new compensation model implementation

  • Proactively identify gaps, inefficiencies, and failure points in People Ops

Process, Documentation & Scale

  • Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the People Team and self-service resources for team members

  • Ruthlessly simplify processes: add 1, cut 2

  • Improve response times, clarity, and predictability of People workflows

  • Build processes that scale without adding unnecessary complexity or headcount

Business & HRBP Support

  • Support our Head of People, Head HRBP and managers with:

  • Analyze People data and surface actionable insights (not vanity dashboards)

  • Support ad-hoc and routine projects across the People team

Who this role is perfect for

  • A HR Generalist who wants real ownership

  • A senior operator with strong People instincts looking for a high-impact role

  • Someone who naturally operates with high agency, doesn’t wait to be asked, and closes loops

  • Someone who thrives in a remote-first, fast-moving, low-process environment

  • Someone who is comfortable operating in constant motion, flexibly taking on new work and paths as the business changes

Must-have qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant HR / People experience, including 3+ years in a start up / tech organisation

  • Experience supporting a 100+ remote-first, global, multicultural team

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • HiBob (or comparable HRIS)

    • Leapsome or similar performance management tools

  • Strong operational judgment and critical thinking

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication (Notion, Slack, Google Workspace)

  • Ability to understand business priorities and translate them into People solutions

  • High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information

Nice to have

  • Exposure to crypto / Web3 environments

  • Comfortable with on-chain basics (wallets, transactions, tokens)

  • Technical curiosity: AI tools, automation, light scripting, macros, “vibe coding”

  • Prior experience wearing both ops and light HRBP hats
