About Polygon Labs
Polygon Labs is a global blockchain payments company building and operating infrastructure to move money instantly, reliably, and at internet scale, with the mission to move all money onchain. It is building the Polygon Open Money Stack, an open and integrated stack of services and technologies to instantly and reliably move money anywhere, and put it to work. Its infrastructure has facilitated trillions of dollars in onchain value transfer and supported millions of transactions daily for some of the globe's largest banks, fintechs, enterprises, and consumer applications.
Your Role
Polygon is an AI-first company, and the AI Foundation team is where that commitment becomes reality. As the second member of this team, you will work directly alongside a staff-level engineer to design, build, and deploy AI tooling and infrastructure that accelerates productivity and AI adoption across the entire organization. This role exists because the demand for AI implementation has grown faster than a single person can handle, and the work is too important to slow down. You will own meaningful systems from day one, and your output will be felt across engineering, product, marketing, and operations.
Your Responsibilities
Design and build an organization-wide AI tooling onboarding system that auto-configures and recommends the appropriate tools, workflows, and skill paths to individuals based on their role, reducing time-to-productivity for every new and existing team member
Develop and maintain the infrastructure that supports automatic deployment and configuration of AI tooling across the organization, ensuring reliability, resilience, and telemetry coverage
Build custom internal applications and harnesses around AI agents and tooling, integrating systems that span engineering and cross-functional teams including product, marketing, and operations
Implement and maintain an AI usage dashboard that gives leadership and teams visibility into adoption, productivity metrics, and tooling health across the organization
Evaluate, integrate, and configure third-party AI tools (coding assistants, LLM orchestration frameworks, agent platforms, and others) to match organizational needs as the landscape evolves
Use Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other AI coding agents to produce well-structured, maintainable code at pace, and actively raise the bar for how the broader engineering team uses these tools in their own workflows
Communicate clearly and consistently in an async-first remote environment, keeping stakeholders across teams informed of project status, blockers, and decisions without requiring escalation
What You'll Need
Demonstrated engineering experience building real systems: you have shipped working software and understand how to architect something maintainable, not just get it running
Hands-on experience working with AI agents and LLM-based systems: you have built harnesses, integrations, or tooling on top of agent frameworks or LLM SDKs (such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar) and understand how these systems behave in practice
Proven ability to work with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalent) as a core part of your daily development workflow: daily AI-assisted coding is a baseline expectation for this role, not an occasional tool
Strong fundamentals in software engineering: you can work across languages and stacks (Python, TypeScript, and others) and know how to bolt systems together correctly even when the specific tools are new to you
Self-directed execution: you take a project brief, ask the right clarifying questions, and drive to delivery without needing constant direction; you communicate proactively and flag blockers early
Genuine curiosity and hunger to stay at the frontier of AI tooling: you actively experiment, push into unfamiliar territory, and treat keeping up with a fast-moving space as part of the job, not a burden
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building telemetry, observability, or monitoring into AI-powered systems to ensure resilience and measurable performance
Familiarity with crypto or blockchain infrastructure environments, or experience working at a fast-moving technology company where the tooling landscape changes frequently
Prior experience in a developer experience, platform engineering, or internal tooling role, particularly one where you were building for other engineers as your primary customer
