Data Engineer
Your Responsibilities
- Design & implement scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and store data from multiple sources (blockchain data, Google Analytics, CRM, internal databases).
- Build & maintain a centralised data warehouse (BigQuery or similar) to unify structured and unstructured data.
- Develop & optimise SQL queries for data extraction and reporting.
- Create and maintain dashboards to visualize key metrics, helping teams make data-driven decisions.
- Ensure data accuracy & reliability by implementing validation and quality assurance processes.
- Automate data processes and improve efficiency through scripting (Python, SQL).
- Integrate Web3 analytics tools (e.g. Dune Analytics, Allium, Flipside, etc.) for blockchain data insights.
What You'll Need
- Strong SQL skills (BigQuery, PostgreSQL, or similar).
- Experience with ETL tools (e.g. Airbyte, Fivetran, or other or custom-built solutions).
- Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
- Ability to work with a variety of APIs to extract and integrate data (e.g. Google Analytics, CRM, blockchain indexers).
- Understanding of blockchain data structures, and how to work with transaction data.
- A pragmatic mindset—you know when to build from scratch and when to use existing solutions.
- Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. Looker, Google Data Studio, Metabase).
- Ability to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of blockchain indexing (e.g. TheGraph, SubSquid, etc.) and smart contract transactions decoding.
- Hands-on experience with Dune Analytics, Allium or Nansen.
- Familiarity with data governance best practices.
What does a data scientist in web3 do?
A data scientist in web3 is a type of data scientist who focuses on working with data related to the development of web-based technologies and applications that are part of the larger web3 ecosystem
This can include working with data from decentralized applications (DApps), blockchain networks, and other types of distributed and decentralized systems
In general, a data scientist in web3 is responsible for using data analysis and machine learning techniques to help organizations and individuals understand, interpret, and make decisions based on the data generated by these systems
Some specific tasks that a data scientist in web3 might be involved in include developing predictive models, conducting research, and creating data visualizations.
