Company Overview: ORCA is a leading DeFi project on the Solana Blockchain. Our goal is to revolutionize the financial industry by leveraging blockchain technology to create a decentralized financial ecosystem. Unlike traditional financial systems that rely on intermediaries like banks and brokers, ORCA aims to provide financial services through smart contracts on Solana. Our dynamic and diverse team is committed to excellence and innovation across global markets.
As a team of talented engineers, Orca’s contributors are comfortable working around the stack but tend to be experts in a particular area. Orca is looking for a like-minded generalist who enjoys developing Solana smart contracts, making technical decisions with minimal oversight, and want to build something great.
What you’ll do
- Develop Solana smart contracts: Build efficient smart contracts in Rust that handle millions of dollars in transactions per day.
- Innovate with DeFi Mechanisms: Develop novel smart contract features that align with Orca’s goals and build user-friendly decentralized applications.
- Security and Auditing: Ensure the security and integrity of smart contracts by implementing best practices for security, writing unit tests, and working with auditors.
- Stay Current: Keep up with the latest advancements in Solana and smart contract development, continuously learning and applying new techniques to improve our platform.
- Optimize and Maintain Contracts: Continuously improve and optimize smart contracts for performance, reliability, and scalability.
What you’ll bring
- In-depth Knowledge of Solana Stack: Strong experience developing in Rust or similar languages, particularly for smart contract development.
- API/SDK Expertise: Deploying and exporting smart contracts into a SDK w/ proper testing. Knowledge of AMM protocols is preferrable.
- Proven track record: You’ve worked on performant, user-facing features at scale and have experience deploying smart contracts with a strong grasp of contract security best practices and design patterns.
- Balanced mindset: You’re comfortable working independently in an async environment, but also enjoy coming together to collaborate as a team. You’re passionate about certain technologies and patterns, but also recognize there are trade-offs in different scenarios. You don’t see everything in absolutes, and identify the underlying dimensions to make decisions.
- Passion for DeFi: You are excited to build on Solana, take ownership, and win together.

How do I get a job at DeFi?
Getting a job in the DeFi (decentralized finance) industry can be a competitive process, but there are a few steps you can take to increase your chances of finding a job in this field:
- Build up your skills and knowledge: To work in DeFi, you'll likely need to have a strong understanding of blockchain technology, as well as other related technologies such as smart contracts and cryptocurrency. Consider taking online courses or earning a degree in a relevant field to build up your skills and knowledge.
- Network with industry professionals: Attend meetups and conferences related to DeFi and make connections with professionals in the industry. Networking can be a valuable way to learn about job openings and get your foot in the door at a DeFi company.
- Create a strong online presence: Many DeFi companies will look at your online presence (such as your LinkedIn profile and personal website) when considering you for a job. Make sure to showcase your skills and accomplishments online and keep your profile up to date.
- Apply for relevant job openings: Keep an eye out for job openings at DeFi companies and apply for positions that align with your skills and experience. Apply for DeFi Jobs without Experience. Tailor your resume and cover letter to the specific job you're applying for and highlight any relevant experience or skills you have.
- Consider internships or volunteer work: DeFi Internships or volunteer work can be a great way to get your foot in the door and gain valuable experience in the DeFi industry. Many companies also offer internships to students, so consider applying for an internship if you're still in school.
- Be persistent: keep trying if you don't get a job right away. It can take time to find the right opportunity, but with the right skills and determination, you can land a job in the DeFi industry.
