Now they’re adding the next layer—AI-powered ride-sharing, predictive maintenance, and crypto integrations—to unlock entirely new economic models for riders and operators.

The Role

Our Client is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build the next generation platform—combining robust engineering with AI and emerging tech to power real-world impact at scale.

You’ll be building and evolving:

• The Django + PostgreSQL backend that powers everything from payments to rider analytics
   
• The Android ReactNative mobile app used daily by riders across Kenya
   
• Cloud deployment infrastructure using Digital Ocean and other cloud providers like AWS
   
• New AI-driven features: route optimization, performance prediction, rider matching, smart battery analytics
   
• Foundations for ride-sharing and crypto-enabled transactions or token systems
   

This is a generalist role in a small, elite team—you’ll touch every part of the stack and help shape what mobility looks like for the next billion users.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and scale Django APIs and services used by our web and mobile apps
   
• Build and support features in our Android ReactNative mobile app (native experience also welcome)
   
• Work with PostgreSQL data models to manage everything from telemetry to payments.
   
• Not only deploy code to AWS or DigitalOcean server but help shape and build the architecture into the future.
   
• Design and prototype AI-powered features using data from our bikes and riders.
   
• Help architect systems for crypto payment integration and future token-based features.
   
• Build internal tools to support operations, customer support, and maintenance workflows.
   

Pitch in where needed: testing, ops, support, architecture—you are part of a small team with high leverage.

You Might Be a Fit If You…

• Have 5+ years of experience building and deploying software in production
   
• Are fluent in Python, Django, React, and PostgreSQL
   
• Have hands-on experience deploying and monitoring systems in AWS or similar cloud environments like Digital Ocean
   
• Have built at least one Android app (native Kotlin or cross-platform like React Native)
   
• Have experience—or a strong interest—in building AI/ML features or working with data pipelines
   
• Have curiosity about or experience with crypto, blockchain, or Web3
   
• Are passionate about mobility, climate tech, fintech, or emerging markets
   
• Want to work on a tight-knit team where your code goes into production and onto real roads every week

Application & Selection Process

This role will follow a rigorous multi-stage process assessment process, including stakeholder panel interviews, and technical case presentation.

The Salary for this position is Kshs 140,000 gross.
