As the Engineering Manager for the Data Platform team, you'll lead the development and scaling of a robust data platform that ingests and processes blockchain data. Your focus will be on building scalable, reliable data infrastructure, tools, and data pipelines that support high-demand projects across the company, working closely with customer teams to transform blockchain data into domain-specific insights.

The Data Platform team is an eight-member group focused on building and maintaining a scalable, reliable data infrastructure that supports diverse projects across the organization. This team manages a broad scope, including GCP Infra Platform, Platform Reliability, and facilitating new blockchain and product launches. Key responsibilities include batch ingestion and processing via tools like Airflow, Fivetran, and Dataflow, along with telemetry, incident triage, and external vendor communication. The team also oversees the Unified Querying Layer, Data Catalog, and various analytics platforms such as Trino, Databricks, and Power BI, ensuring seamless data access and insights for stakeholders. Additionally, they handle data governance, compliance, and cost management while supporting integrations with platforms like Salesforce, HubSpot, and Workday. The team’s focus on reliability and responsiveness keeps essential datasets and analytics services continuously available, providing critical support for both internal and external data requests.

Previous experience in roles such as Data Infrastructure Manager, Data Platform Manager, or Data Engineering Manager would be a strong plus. Experience working in an enterprise environment, managing multiple stakeholders, and embracing the platform approach is essential. Additionally, having managed a platform that continuously serves stakeholders under a defined set of Service Level Objectives (SLOs) is a highly desired requirement.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional data/software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.

  • Servant leadership mindset and an ability to inspire and motivate others

  • Ability to work on a globally distributed team with a high degree of ownership

  • Experience owning multi-month long projects, including communication of progress, dependencies, and risk mitigation directly with stakeholders and partners

  • Good communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional experience working on a cloud-based big data system (AWS/GCP)

  • Experience in DBT, BigQuery

  • Experience in building data pipelines

  • Experience in blockchain and other Web 3.0 technologies

  • Experience working with a team located across multiple time zones

  • Experience Kubernetes, SQL, System Design, Data Architecture, and either Python, Java or Golang.

All roles with Chainlink Labs are global and remote-based. Unless otherwise stated, we ask that you try to overlap some working hours with Eastern Standard Time (EST).
