The Bitso Retail team is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced technical lead to join the Crypto Revolution. In this crucial role, you will manage engineers and other leads, helping them grow while we build scalable, secure, and high-quality products with our users as the center.

You will work with product, design, and business stakeholders to define the strategy and set priorities. Your ultimate goal will be to offer our customers products of excellence, prioritizing security and user experience. 

This role requires deep technical and architectural understanding. You must understand architecture and have a solid previous background as a developer. While coding is not expected, there will be situations where you will need to support your team.

Director of Engineering

Who You Are 

  • Passionate about the crypto ecosystem.
  • 6+ years of experience managing engineering teams, with at least 2+ years managing managers.
  • Strong background in payments or investment.
  • Proven ability to scale engineering teams and optimize delivery processes.
  • Deep technical expertise in software engineering, architecture, and team building.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and geographies.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog).
  • Experience working with Git and automated CI/CD tools.
  • Strong ability to coordinate sizeable multidisciplinary product engineering squads.
  • Knows how to motivate teams through practical challenges.
  • Experience building and launching large products to market.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies and DevOps practices

Nice to Have

The following qualifications are not mandatory but would be valuable:

  • Crypto and trading knowledge
  • You know your way around Kubernetes, GRPC, and REST
  • You know React Native or JS
  • Experience working on User Facing Products

  • Be responsible for the team health and growth of each of its members.
  • Identify high performers that need to be nurtured and lower performers that need assistance.
  • Run performance reviews, assign promotions, making sure success planning is a fact.
  • Provide leadership and technological guidance to your squad and other managers when uncertain.
  • Monitoring metrics, goals, and missions for people and teams.
  • Oversee and empower engineering teams, ensuring high productivity, technical excellence, and a strong culture of collaboration.
  • Manage managers—providing mentorship, guidance, and strategic direction to engineering leaders.
  • Own the execution of engineering initiatives,
  • Ensure teams have the proper structure.
  • Foster a high-performance engineering culture by driving best practices in software development, security, and system design.
  • Contribute to hiring and retaining top engineering talent globally, helping to shape the future of Bitso’s technical organization.
  • Challenge the status-quo, seeking customer value at all times, by delivering innovative and quality software solutions.
