About Us 

Aurora Labs is the development company behind Aurora—the EVM blockchain that runs on the NEAR Protocol. We are also the developers of, and integration partner behind, Aurora Cloud—a suite of products that allow Web2 companies to capture the value of Web3.

We are looking for a Head of Engineering who is excited about blockchain technology to join our team. This is a full-time role that can be done remotely anywhere in the world. Reporting to the CEO you will be a tech lead for our engineering team. If you are eager to dive into the competing cross-chain ecosystem and would like to work in an energetic environment, surrounded by highly productive and meticulous engineers, we would be happy to see you in Aurora Labs!

You’ll:

- Bring in a high level of technical expertise, lead and provide technical strategic and technical guidance, to the engineering team;
- Nurture our engineering culture of ownership, trust, and high performance;
- Work with the CEO and Tech Leads to establish and execute on company  long term technical plans and strategic initiatives;
-  Oversee development and implementation of the technical solutions aligned with general company goals;
- Partner with Product and Growth teams on strategic planning, product development, and execution, help to translate business requirements and product capabilities into technical requirements;
- Create a dynamic and accountable performance environment, establishing and following the minimal necessary processes, like technical roadmaps, milestones, regular team meetings;
Oversee growth of individual contributors and team leaders;
-  Design teams, systems, and tools to help us perform and scale effectively.

You have:

- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field;
- Previous experience as Head of Engineering 2+ years;
- Previous coding experience, in either Rust, Go, or Solidity; 
- Solid understanding of systems architecture design;
- Solid understanding of blockchain technology, especially Ethereum;
- Message based, and event based, programming and architecture;
- Contributions to open-source software (nice to have); 
- Experience with message brokers and message oriented middleware;
- Understanding of, and experience in, (Sec)-SDLC;
- Focus on specification-first development;
- Proven ability to work with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders;
- Ability to work across other teams like Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Growth with a shared sense of purpose;
- Great communication skills and remain calm under pressure during any potential incidents or juggling multiple priorities;
- Good people management skills;
- While you should have a zeal for excellence, you should be very comfortable with balancing degrees of risk and business needs.
