At O(1) Labs, Mina is in the DNA of everything we do. As our tooling graduates to V1 and zkApps become a reality with Mina’s Berkeley upgrade, we want to continue to grow the community and lead by example, bringing our expertise to the wider zkApps landscape.

We're hiring engineers to drive, design, and develop many exciting projects directly on o1js, Kimchi, and Mina. These include building prototypes of our newest zkApp ideas, testing out experimental new zk designs in practice, and creating the frameworks that empower o1js with whole new uses.

As an Ecosystem Exploration Engineer:

  • You will inspire the community and the team at O(1).
  • You will share your work at events, helping to cement O(1) 's reputation as world-class zk engineers and pillars of the ecosystem
  • You will be well-placed to support and direct both new and experienced developers a leaders in the community.
  • You will be a huge help in understanding the quirks/issues that developers may experience, and we can work to resolve them.
  • You will share learnings and exciting new projects in blog posts and Twitter threads to further the reputation that O(1) Labs is the place for zk.

Engineers working in this team will contribute to several projects, collaborating with their colleagues and community members who are excited to work with what they have built. Candidates who are comfortable with and enjoy juggling multiple interesting projects will be best suited and should have strong communication skills to help everyone benefit from their exploration.

We want to attract engineers who are generalists, and who are motivated and excited to engage with multiple interesting projects simultaneously. As with our other engineering roles, we also encourage an interest or speciality in any of the following:

  • Functional programming
  • Programming language theory
  • Type theory / formal program verification
  • Cryptography
  • Low-level performance optimizations
  • Compiler design

Experience in OCaml or other functional programming languages is not expected but is always a strong positive signal.

However, there are no hard requirements; we're more interested in learning about your individual background.

About Us

O(1) Labs is the team that incubated, launched and contributes to Mina Protocol, a Layer 1 blockchain that compresses the blockchain from hundreds of gigabytes down to the size of a few tweets and can scale to millions of users while remaining decentralized enough for cell phones to be fully verifying nodes. Using the power of Mina and zk technology we are at the forefront of building a privacy centered Web 3.0.

With this work we are driving the potential to reimagine social structures. We believe in and are dedicated to incorporating diverse perspectives from conception through realization.

We are based in San Francisco, CA but our team is spread out around the world and offer competitive compensation both in salary and equity as well as top-of-the-market benefits.

If you'd be interested in talking further, please get in touch by emailing your resume and the subject "Protocol Engineer" to [email protected].

We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive company. People of color, LGBTQ individuals, women, and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
