The mission of Trust Machines is to grow the Bitcoin economy. We've recently raised $150M to realize this vision, build Bitcoin apps, and the open-source technologies required to unleash the true potential of Bitcoin for DeFi and Decentralized Applications.
Trust Machines is building a DeFi lending protocol, and we're looking for founding Smart Contract Engineers to join our remote-first team. The DeFi lending protocol will be the first DeFi lending protocol that allows users to borrow using native BTC as collateral, unlocking an enormous potential market. This role will be critical in designing and building the protocol from the ground up, working with the team to develop a robust and long-term product. The ideal candidate has start-up experience and is passionate about DeFi and Bitcoin.
Here's what you'll do:
- Collaborate with the lending engineering team to architect a secure, decentralized, and highly-functional DeFi lending protocol
- Design, develop, and deploy smart contracts and decentralized applications on various blockchain platforms, writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code
- Propose, execute, and iterate on research sprints to develop novel capabilities and technologies using Bitcoin script (no prior experience with Bitcoin script is necessary)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various TM teams including core engineering, product design, UX, and business development
- A passion for Bitcoin, DeFi, and crypto
- Fluency in Solidity or another smart contract language and a Github profile that demonstrates proficiency (Bitcoin script experience not required/expected)
- Proven experience as a smart contract engineer, with a strong understanding of blockchain concepts, consensus algorithms, and cryptographic principles
- Familiarity with smart contract development tools and frameworks (e.g. Foundry, Hardhat, Remix, Web3.js)
- 4+ years of work experience in software development
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on discovering solutions instead of identifying roadblocks
- Self-motivated, can independently own feature development
- Thrives in a collaborative team-based environment
- Experience with Bitcoin script / development
- Experience in the end-to-end full-stack development and/or launch of a Web3 DeFi protocol
- Experience at a startup as an early engineer / founder
- Strong communication skills and team-based mentality
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Please note that benefits vary by country, the ones shown above are for our full time U.S. based employees. Benefit information for non-US based positions will be provided to individuals who interview for those roles.
- Pay Range: $150,000â$200,000 USD
- Equity in Trust Machines
- Participation in future protocol incentives
- Benefits including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)
- Open Vacation Policy, take the days you need
- Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave
- Remote-first work environment (work from home!)
- Awesome coworkers and a fun, collaborative environment
- Your choice of technical setup and equipment (with home office subsidy)
