Overview
Morning Brew seeks an energetic and enthusiastic writer for a forthcoming newsletter focused on crypto—both the digital currencies as well as the related concepts that decentralized blockchains enable.
Morning Brew subscribers are twice as likely as the average American to hold crypto investments, yet one in two say they feel less knowledgeable than their peers about crypto, even as they believe the asset class will outperform others in the long term.
Our crypto newsletter aims to close that gap by serving as a resource for enthusiasts—the people who are into crypto, but not, you know, into crypto. It will offer readers news, context, and understanding about leading and rising assets as well as the rapidly expanding Web3 world around them, including DAOs, NFTs, and DeFi.
If you’re interested in writing stories about crypto for the most obsessive early adopters, this isn’t the job for you. But if you delight in going down that rabbit hole—and yes, we want you to be willing to buy on an exchange, create a crypto wallet, mint an NFT, etc. in pursuit of knowledge—only to emerge and explain (with disclosures!) how it matters to people who are enthusiastic but not quite experts, this is where it’s at.
This role will be instrumental in the development and execution of stories, series, and editorial packages both within and beyond the newsletter.
The ideal candidate is passionate about how the burgeoning crypto category affects the everyperson. You should be able to deftly communicate insights using data analysis, reporting, and research. This role will ask you to explain the seemingly unexplainable with precision, clarity, and commitment to accuracy. You’ll also be expected to do so with a strong, memorable voice. We aim to never be boring or stuffy—no small task for a topic like this.
This job will require you to work cross-functionally with copy editors, fact-checkers, designers, growth and social leads, and engineers. Being a team player and getting along with peers is essential. You should also be flexible: We’re in high-growth mode at Morning Brew and a game-for-anything attitude is a must.
Candidates with experience writing about crypto are strongly preferred. Have you been an active participant and actually withdrawn crypto from an exchange to a personal wallet to spend on, say, an NFT? Better still. But none of that is a prerequisite. If you’re passionate about crypto and hungry to teach others what you learn, you are encouraged to apply.
Morning Brew is based in New York City but this role is remote-friendly for all candidates.
