The Department: Threat Detection & Response

The Role: Senior Manager, Threat Detection and Response
As Senior Manager of Threat Detection and Response, you will directly lead and enable a high-performing team responsible for defensive security. Your team will function as full-service owners, embracing automation and engineering-driven approaches to both discover and respond to security threats across Gemini. You will foster a psychologically safe environment that prioritizes empowerment, continuous learning, and operational excellence. You will set strategic direction while actively participating alongside your team in detection engineering, incident response, threat hunting, intelligence analysis, and insider threat.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and drive the strategic vision and roadmap for Geminiâs TDR capabilities, blending strategic leadership with hands-on execution to empower your team and achieve impactful security outcomes
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of security engineers, promoting psychological safety, continuous learning, and a culture of ownership
- Own and participate in incident response, threat hunting, detection engineering, threat intelligence, threat disruption, and insider threat
- Foster automated and scalable detection, response, and analysis practices
- Champion cross-functional collaboration to enhance organizational resilience and response
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years leading and working hands-on with threat detection and response or security operations teams
- 4+ years leading high-performing remote or distributed technical teams in dynamic, scaled environments
- Deep expertise in incident response, detection engineering, threat intelligence, and threat hunting
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience building and operating modern, scaled TDR capabilities
- Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with fraud and abuse detection, particularly within financial services or cryptocurrency sectors
- Experience leading TDR functions and directly working within cloud-native environments
- Strong background in software or security engineering with coding or scripting skills

Salary Range: The base salary range for this role is between $198,000 - $277,000 in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidateâs compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
In the United States, we have a flexible hybrid work policy for employees who live within 30 miles of our office headquartered in New York City and our office in Seattle. Employees within the New York and Seattle metropolitan areas are expected to work from the designated office twice a week, unless there is a job-specific requirement to be in the office every workday. Employees outside of these areas are considered part of our remote-first workforce. We believe our hybrid approach for those near our NYC and Seattle offices increases productivity through more in-person collaboration where possible.
