You would own responsibilities that may include:
- Provide advice on relevant financial services and payments laws and regulations
- Manage regulatory requests and filings
- Lead legal regulatory reviews for strategic deals and contracts in EMEA
- Monitor regulatory developments in EMEA (e.g. MICA, e.g. DORA) and advise on its impact to BitGo
- Support ongoing compliance obligations and respond to regulatory changes and developments
- Provide advice to internal stakeholders on regulatory matters in EMEA
- Escalating issues to senior team members as appropriate.
- Pitching in whenever and wherever needed, even when not directly related to responsibilities described above.
Your experience and skill set will cover many of the following:
- Fully qualified lawyer in Germany (passed first and second state exam)
- 2+ years PQE experience in a top-tier law firm with exposure to international legal systems and ways of doing business and/or in-house legal experience at an international financial services company.
- Practical experience interfacing with BaFin, Bundesbank and external auditors
- Ability to balance multiple tasks in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to assess and balance legal risks against business interests.
- Preference for a candidate with interest in blockchain and digital assets.
- Flexible, “can-do” attitude and willingness to learn
- Full fluency in German and English, both written and verbal
