About The Role
We are looking for a Founding Protocol Engineer who wants to help shape the future of DeFi with us, creating novel solutions to restore trust in on-chain lending and bring profitable investment strategies to our users. In this role, you will architect and deploy sophisticated contracts to offer modular and transparent lending solutions that empower our borrowers to take on new and institutional level on-chain strategies. You will work alongside Sam to execute product specs with a high degree of autonomy and trust.
As an early team member, the Founding Engineer will help shape not only the protocol, but also who we are at GoldLink. You will set a technical standard for GoldLink and eventually the entire DeFi lending space. You will have the freedom and autonomy to shape the direction of our culture and platform, contributing your ideas and expertise to drive its evolution. You will be challenged with complex problem-solving in a rapidly evolving problem space, allowing you to expand your skill set and grow alongside the company.
Responsibilities

• Utilize your experience as a Protocol Engineer to design, develop, and implement novel smart contract protocols.
• Architect and optimize smart contracts to ensure security, scalability, and performance.
• Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence by implementing code standards and engineering processes.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
• Take initiative, challenge assumptions at GoldLink, and act as a critical technical decision-maker.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest news and advances in smart contract development and security, sharing knowledge and insights with the team.
• Take a proactive role in shaping the company's technological roadmap and strategy.

• 4+ years of professional experience as a Backend/Protocol Software Engineer.
• Strong emphasis on smart contract development.
• Deep understanding of smart contract security best practices and a security mindset.
• Experience architecting large or high-value software systems.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience acting as a key technical decision maker at the highest level in past projects.

• Previous experience designing smart contract protocols with TVL in the tens of millions or more.
• Leadership experience or interest in taking on leadership responsibilities.
• Experience or interest in mentoring junior engineers.
• Background in DeFi specifically.
