Orcaβs mission is to become the leading provider of financial primitives on Solana. We see a future where a meaningful percentage of the worldβs financial transactions is powered by CLAMMs and other Decentralized Finance (DeFi) products. Weβre looking to hire another senior software engineer to accelerate our progress towards that vision.
As a team of senior contributors, weβre comfortable working around the stack but tend to be experts in a particular area. Weβre looking for a like-minded generalist who can specialize in building out our backend services and infrastructure.
What youβll do
- Build delightful user-facing products, whether itβs a TypeScript SDK, stats and price API, or brand new interface.
- Create compelling user experiences with a sharp eye for design details.
- Make complex interactions and animations look easy and seamless to both end users and fellow engineers.
- Maintain tooling and best practices for testing, package management, and CI/CD.
- Improve site speed, performance, and reliability.
- Contribute to an open-source culture and process.
What youβll bring
- Proven track record: Youβve worked on performant, user-facing features at scale, ideally in finance or adjacent industry.
- Balanced mindset: Youβre comfortable working independently in an async environment, but also enjoy coming together to collaborate as a team. Youβre passionate about certain technologies and patterns, but also recognize their trade-offs in different scenarios. You donβt see everything in absolutes, and identify the underlying dimensions to make decisions.
- Design sense: While youβre capable of creating βpixel perfectβ interfaces, youβre equally comfortable (and maybe even prefer) filling in the details and making design suggestions yourself.
- Excellent communicator: You articulate your thoughts and ideas clearlyβand pass the mic to empower others to be heard.
- Interest in DeFi: Whether youβre completely new to DeFi or an accomplished degen, youβre excited to create a more decentralized, equitable financial system.
- Experience or interest in open source: Youβre ready to make Orca fully open source and decentralized.
What we offer
- Opportunity to learn and develop Solana DeFi.
- Competitive salary and ORCA token allocation.
- Flexible work schedule.
- Budget for a new computer or other work equipment.
- Reimbursement for working from an office or cafΓ©.
- Option to work remotely or from our office in New York City.
- Paid subscriptions to GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or other tools that make you more productive.
Our stack
- UI built with Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, deployed to Vercel.
- React Query and Zustand to fetch and manage app state.
- Solana smart contracts written in Rust using Anchor.
- AWS CDK to provision Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Docker to develop in a stable environment.
- Migrating away from Create React App and MongoDB.
- GitHub, Asana, Notion, Discord.
To apply:
Submit an application using the form below, and include the following:
- CV or LinkedIn profile
- When you'd be able to start
- Short description of your background in DeFi and interest in Solana / Orca
- Code samples, example project, or portfolio of past work if available
- One interest / hobby you love to geek out about, so we can get to know you!

What does a front-end developer in web3 do?
A front-end developer in web3 typically works on developing and building the user-facing part of applications that are built on blockchain technology
This can include tasks such as designing and implementing the user interface, using libraries like web3.js and Ethers.js, creating and maintaining the overall look and feel of the application, and ensuring that the app is accessible and easy to use for the end user
Front-end developers in web3 may also be responsible for integrating the application with the underlying blockchain network, as well as working with other members of the development team to create a seamless and intuitive user experience.
