About us

Founded in 2015 with the mission to protect the open economy, OpenZeppelin is the world leader in securing blockchain applications and smart contracts.

Its bedrock open source Contract Libraries are a public good and industry standard for smart contract development.

OpenZeppelin’s professional expertise, unified with the Defender developer security platform, integrates through clients’ development lifecycles, so teams can plan, code, audit, deploy and operate projects faster and more safely.

Please note: Always refer to OpenZeppelin's official job page for the most accurate information about our open roles, as we have seen multiple third party job sites posting inaccurate information.

<h3><strong>The Development Team<br></strong></h3>

OpenZeppelin is one of the major contributors to the crypto open source ecosystem, providing open source libraries for Solidity, Cairo, Stylus, Polkadot, Stellar, and Midnight. In this role you will have the possibility to work with some of the most talented developers in the industry to create reusable building blocks for smart contract and dapp developers, and to help in our mission to protect the open economy.

OpenZeppelin’s work on open source is funded by leading L1s and L2s, including EVM and non-EVM platforms. You will be part of OpenZeppelin’s recognized software development team responsible for the widely adopted OpenZeppelin Contracts, Wizard, and Defender.

What you'll be doing

As an Open Source Developer, you will join our team that works on open source libraries for smart contracts, as well as associated open source developer tools. This open source will extend the work already done in the widely used OpenZeppelin Contracts library. We are looking for developers who have strength in Solidity, Rust, or Typescript development and have deep knowledge of smart contracts and dapps.

In this role, you will play an essential part in designing and implementing new library modules, communicating with smart contract developers and blockchain network community members to gather feedback, and working collaboratively with other members of the development team to make sure our open source libraries and associated tools meet developer needs and expectations. You will be responsible for smart contract coding, testing, documentation, and security. You may also participate in open source tools development to assist developers using our library.

You have

  • 2+ years of experience in software development.
  • 1+ years of experience developing smart contracts (Solidity or other languages).
  • Good understanding of design best practices and security in the Ethereum ecosystem.
  • Prior experience working remotely: strong personal organizational skills, a love for self-time management, and ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Advanced English communication skills — all of our internal and external communication is in English.

Nice to have

  • Experience in Rust, Typescript, React.
  • Experience contributing to open source projects.

Logistics:

Our interview process takes place on Zoom and consists of the following stages:

  • Recruiter Call (45 mins)

What is OpenZeppelin?

OpenZeppelin is a widely-used open-source library of reusable smart contracts for building decentralized applications (dApps) on various blockchain platforms, including Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, and others

The library provides a set of secure and audited building blocks, such as ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens, multi-sig wallets, access control, and more, that developers can use to create smart contracts quickly and easily without worrying about common security pitfalls

OpenZeppelin is used for building secure and audited smart contracts on various blockchain platforms, such as Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain

The library provides a set of pre-built and reusable smart contract modules that can be easily integrated into decentralized applications (dApps)

These modules include standard tokens, like ERC-20 and ERC-721, as well as modules for access control, voting, crowdsales, and more
