The Ethereum Foundation: The Ethereum Foundation (EF) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Ethereum. Our mission is to ensure the long-term success of Ethereum by allocating resources to critical projects, being a positive voice within the Ethereum ecosystem, and advocating for Ethereum to the outside world.

The Role: The EF is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative security engineer who with their skillset can help secure the Ethereum protocol, which enables users and projects to utilize Ethereum.
As an open-source project, we operate transparently when possible and often communicate in publicly accessible channels, so being comfortable working in the open is essential. In this fast-paced, constantly evolving, and sometimes unpredictable space, your work will be dynamic and may shift in response to changing priorities.

To thrive in this role, you will need to be very self-motivated and be comfortable working asynchronously. Our organization is very flat, and we believe that success comes from being able to work on what you find interesting and valuable rather than top-down directives. You likely have 4+ years of cybersecurity experience and are used to manually auditing applications written in Go, Rust, Java, C# or Nim or have a track record of writing fuzzers.

The Objective: As a Protocol Security Engineer, you’ll use your technical expertise to further secure the Ethereum protocol on topics you excel in, such as such as manually auditing the Ethereum software stack which involves new updates to the Execution Layer and Consensus Layer clients, write fuzzers for the Ethereum protocol’s p2p networking layer or clients, conduct security research, and work closely with many of the brightests minds in the ecosystem such as client teams, researchers, ethpandaops, testing teams and more to minimize the risk of security incidents on a protocol level.
A list of examples of what the Protocol Security Research team is currently working can be found here.

What we offer

    • Full-time position
    • Fully remote
    • Flexible work hours
    • Competitive compensation
To apply to this position, please include a brief (less than one page) cover letter explaining your qualifications and a resume or CV

What does a Rust developer in web3 do?

A Rust developer in the context of web3 is a programmer who uses the Rust programming language to build applications and tools for the decentralized web, also known as the web3 ecosystem

The specific responsibilities of a Rust developer in web3 may vary depending on the project or organization they are working for, but in general, they would be responsible for writing, testing, and maintaining Rust code that is used to build web3 applications

This could include things like creating smart contracts for decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, building tools for interacting with decentralized storage networks, or developing decentralized applications (dApps) for the web3 ecosystem.
