Linking Realities is a thriving startup located in Barcelona that has received multiple prices during the past year as the 22@NETWORK BCN Most Innovative Startup and Finalist of the Premios Emprende XXI from CaixaBank. It has been featured in Forbes, CincoDias, El Referente and several other mainstream media. We are focused in providing identity tools for the metaverse through avatars. We work with cutting-edge techniques in the computer vision and decentralized web (Web3) fields to deliver our product for upcoming immersive paradigms.
Our vision is that metaverses and immersive virtual platforms should all be interoperable, where the user identity is unique across virtual worlds and always under the user control. To achieve this goal, we are developing a decentralized identity management system with avatars as its central piece, which will be open-source and follow open standards and seek the creation of new ones where necessary.
About the role
At Linking Realities, we offer an API that allows our users to generate their own photorealistic 3D avatars from 2D selfies with low poly count that can be used in multiuser platforms. This is the visual part of our offering, in addition to this 3D representation, we are developing a digital identity wallet where users will be able to store and control their identity and associated avatars.
The design and development of the wallet requires expertise on concepts like blockchains, NFTs and smart contracts, decentralized storage architectures, decentralized identifiers (DIDs) or verifiable credentials (VCs). But don’t be afraid to apply, even if you are not an expert on these concepts! We are looking for someone that is highly motivated to learn and that wants to become an expert on how to manage your own identity in the digital world and the metaverse.
It is expected that a large portion of your time will be initially spent conducting research and writing specification documents. We are in the early stages of this project, so you will be able to help lay the foundations for future phases. This position offers you a high degree of autonomy, but you will still be supported by the CTO, so it is a great opportunity to learn!
We have an office in Barcelona. We meet from time to time when we need to coordinate or work on something as a team. Other than that, there is no problem if you prefer to work remotely most of the time.
Responsibilities
- Be the company go-to expert on identity management systems in the virtual world
- Be a core member of the identity wallet team
- Guide the identity wallet development process and be part of it when necessaryÂ
- e.g. writing prototypes and proofs of concepts for its most critical parts
Required qualifications
- Experience developing on blockchain related technologies or related applied research
- Good understanding of a digital wallet underlying cryptography
- Good written and spoken communication skills
