The Investigations and Special Programs team at Chainalysis are extraordinary problem solvers adept at covert analysis and conducting complex investigations. We help our customers with the biggest and hairiest of investigations and along the way, make the world a safer place.

Our Software Engineers build, design, and maintain tools and applications in a production environment. This work can range from quick, single-use, prototype tools for a single user to large-scale web applications for hundreds (or thousands!) of users. We measure success by how well we build components that are reusable and replaceable, reducing time to deployment, building tools that simplify data analysis and fostering collaborative relationships across the company.

In one year you’ll know you were successful if…

  • You’ve built strong relationships internally with frontend and data engineers to design, develop, and maintain best-in-class tools and mission-critical applications.
  • You regularly contribute to planning sessions around constructing feature requirements and specifications.
  • Our tools and applications have evolved as you’ve gathered user feedback and their needs have changed.
  • You have adeptly balanced ad-hoc requests in addition to ongoing projects and can quantify the impact of your work.

A background like this helps:

  • US Citizenship required
  • Previously designed and implemented cloud-native micro services based distributed systems.
  • Experience building data pipelines and implementing event-driven architectures.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Golang)
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g. Bash)
  • You appreciate the importance of team culture and have been an active contributor to a culture that thrives on giving first and the respect and diversity of opinions
  • You are passionate about data and sharing that with others .
  • Insatiable curiosity about cryptocurrencies and the growing blockchain ecosystem.

What does a back-end developer in Web3 do?

A back-end developer in web3 typically works on the server-side of a web application, using technologies that are specific to the decentralized web (also known as Web3-related)

This might involve building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports decentralized applications (dApps), or developing the underlying smart contracts and blockchain-based systems that power those dApps

In general, the goal of a back-end developer in web3 is to create the technologies and tools that enable users to interact with the decentralized web in a secure and seamless way.
